Hello all, please forgive a stupid question... I am trying
to make a .zip archive to send to a friend who has a PC (what
else), and I just can't get it to work... I first tried to
remember how to set it up under Dopus (4.12, I don't like the later
versions) , tried using the settings for 'add to LHA archive'
as a template, didn't work... DL'd a few GUI's for .Zip from
Aminet, all but one wouldn't run, the prog. that ran would only
archive about 50 files, then stop....
Grrrr........
So, anyone able to give the syntax of the Zip command in English,
or an idea about how to set up making .Zip archives using Dopus?
I HAD it working some time ago, but strangely my DOPUS config.
changed.... I can't play .MODs anymore either, but I'll get
to that later....
Many Thanks...

Bah, just forget about using ZIP, use LhA instead and tell your friend to use WinRAR instead of WinZIP. It can open LhA archives without problems, plus rar is better than zip overall anyway.

@ McVenco
LHA rules! :pint:
@ marcfrick2112
In case you still want it for Dopus:-
AmigaDOS Zip "{d}{RsEnter Zip archive name}" {O}
With these also ticked:-
CD destination
Do all files
Output window
Recursive directories
Rescan destination
Also get the latest Zip and UnZip files from Aminet for your C drawer. My files are Zip 79176 and UnZip 95140 :-)

@A4000 Mad:
Well, I couldn't get that config. to work for .zip'ing
files, requester comes up with 'enter arguments' if I try
just putting in a name for an archive, nothing happens....
Oh well, I'll just tell the guy to use WinRAR, or UltimateZip
which also does LHa and LZX....
Really, I Don't want to use .Zip if I can avoid it...
Thanks guys...

No worries mate :-) I had problems with zipping in Dopus which turned out to be a faulty Zip file in my C drawer. But if you decide that you do want to see Dopus zipping and unzipping, even just out of curiosity, you can always send me your 'DirectoryOpus.CFG' file from the S drawer of Dopus or from Workbench:S if you have one in there. I could add the buttons and E-mail it back to you along with the Zip and UnZip I'm using now. It'll work trust me

Hey A4000_Mad: You know, I may just take you up on your offer
:-D I'm not on my Amiga now, but when I am, I'll send my DirectoryOpus.CFG file.... I'm set up to UNzip and view Zip archives already, strange I can't .zip files...
Edit: I checked, it seems my version of Zip is same as yours, at least size is same...
Somehow, my .CFG file got changed, I think after restoring my SYS: from a backup....suddenly Dopus doesn't do .Zip , .LZX
finally got it to play .MODs again, tho.....
Don't suppose you could set up LZX archiving as well...?

PM replied to and E-mail sent. Now we can really start destroying our Dopus configs

Ok mate,
I've sent you a new DirectoryOpus.CFG to go into Workbench:S together with some files to go into Workbench:C
I've added the buttons:-
Zip
Unzip
EXT LZX (extract lzx)
ADD Lzx
EXT LHA (extract lha)
To bring them straight into view I've swapped there positions with IconInfo, Comment, Protect, GetSizes and Datestamp. But you can swap them back to wherever you like of course :-)
Let me know if they work ok??

No don't click on the screengrab above mate
-
A4000_Mad: Thanks for everything.... Yeah, I knew
not to click on the screengrab pic.... :)
But jeez, you had to post a pic of my Dopus screen
for everyone to see ??
(Good thing I don't have buttons with titles like 'BlowUpStuff'
or 'WatchDirtyMovies'.....
lol....
P.S. I sent you E-Mail with some viewers, et al. you asked
about....

Every masterpiece like that should be on display in my opinion ;-)
Good thing I don't have buttons with titles like 'BlowUpStuff' or 'WatchDirtyMovies'...
Doh! I should have thought to add those buttons before posting it for you
Thanks for the files :-)
I've just sent you a new DirectoryOpus.CFG correcting 4 of my own mistakes
Zip needed to have 'CD source' ticked
Unzip needed to have 'CD destination' ticked
Add Lzx needed to have 'CD sourse' ticked
EXT LZX needed to have 'CD destination' ticked
What amazing skill to do 4 out of the 5 buttons wrong :-D
You should now be able to have different source and destination windows :-)

@ All
I'm trying to set up a Dopus button 'Lha2Lxz' using a file from Aminet.
The instructions are to set it up as follows:-
AmigaDos c:LZXConv {f}
Then tick the following flags:-
CD Source
Do All Files
Output Window
Run Asynchronously
Workbench to Front
It says to unpack the archive and put the contents of C in C, Libs in Libs etc etc. But there is also a drawer named "src". Any idea where we put that drawer or the single file inside it called LZXConv.e??
I believe the file is to do with the creation of a required directory temp.lzx, as when I try to use the button I briefly see a report like "Unable to open temp.lzx for input"
Oh.... I've tried the file LZXConv.e in Workbench:C, Workbench:S, Work:Dopus, Work:Dopus/C, and Work:Dopus/S but none of that worked.
Thanks

LZXConv.e is the source. Nothing useful for a user.
