Hello guys,
I have a a500 win 1Mg of mem, and I´m wondering if I could convert this .adf files into Amiga disks (for a real amiga). I know that there are proggies that do that, I mean, you load the prog in the amiga, give it the .adf and it dumps to disk the image in Amiga format, but my question is... Should I be able with only 1 Meg of mem to do this?
Thanks in advance,
HexDump.

It should be posible but you will need a hd or atleast two fdd's, i dont think you will be able to do it with one fdd, if u have a pc with two fdd's the you could try this Disk2FDI (http://www.oldskool.org/disk2fdi/)

@NitrousB
I think you've got it the wrong way round - Disk2FDI is needed to transfer Disk -> ADF.
@HexDump
ADF -> Disk is different. Firstly, you need to get the ADF file over to the Amiga. The Amiga and PC can both read double-density IBM formatted floppies, but the Amiga needs a tool called "Cross Dos" to read them. The ADF file probably won't fit on the disk, so you'll need to compress it, as a LHA or ZIP for instance.
You'll then have to get the file onto the Amiga, and you could have a problem. I've got a hard drive and 10Mb of RAM. What I think you'll have to do is uncompress the ADF onto the RAM. If should fit, but you may have to not open workbench to save memory.
Now the ADF is on the Amiga, you need to write it to disk. There is a tool called "ADF2Disk" availible - find it on Aminet (http://us.aminet.net). It's tiny, so put it in your sys:c drawer. In therory, you should then be able to place a disk in DF0: and type in at the shell:
adf2disk ram:file.adf df0:
I managed to do this with an unexpanded A1200 with 2Mb of RAM, but I've no idea how you'll manage without that. I also had a cross-DOS disk - if you don't you could have problems (since you need it to transfer files to the 'miggy).
A lot of people have used serial links with success - that might be better for you. If you don't understand any of this, tell me and I'll try to explain it more clearly :-)
Welcome to A.org ;-)

Buy AmigaExplorer from Cloanto. With a serial cable between your PC and Amiga you can put ADF's to disk and vice versa (also NDOS gamedisks), you can access harddisk.
It is a bit slow however, but it works really well and there is far less fussing around compared to alternative (free) solutions.

Could you please explain the calbe thingy a bit more in detail?.

If you can fit both the ADF and tracktool into a RAM Disk, then you might be able to pull it off. Otherwise you'll have to use a hard disk based Amiga to do it.
Not to state the obvious, but you'll need CrossDOS loaded to read the ADFs off a PC disk.

I was just thinking, wouldn't it be possible to split the adf into two files on the pc, and then on the amiga write the file back in two steps ... first half and second half ...
didn't old disk-copy programs use this method on 512KB and 1MB machines? :-?
