Anyone know where i can get a driver for my printer to run on my miggy? its a HP Deskjet 710c.
Amiga 1200
OS 3.1
Ta :-) :-D
-
Unfortunately I don't think the 710c is
compatibile with the A1200. There was as driver
for it included in 3.9, but it still didn't work
for me.

Try to use HP DeskJet 81x/83x drivers. I read it on
http://www.irseesoft.de/hotline.htm, but it is German. If you can't find this drivers on Aminet, you have to buy Turboprint 7.40.
-
Ahh cool :-)
I was just querying, as im going to want to use it when i get my miggy a1.
Cheers
Any more infor on a whereabouts of a driver plz post :-)
-
Your best bet is TurboPrint. An all in one package which containts drivers for hundreds of modern printers and is still being updated
-
Ok cool :-)
Is this program "freeware", "shareware" or do i purchase it? Anyideas where from?
-
I have emailed Turboprint.
They emailed me back saying the dont support the HP 7xx series of printers. Bloody great. Anyway, its like $80 for the disk? I only need 1 driver lol!
Anyone else got any ideas? I dont want a new printer lol

I've wondered about writing amiga printer drivers. Has anyone ever done this? I would imagine that a basic printer driver is pretty simple(note the word IMAGINE). Does anyone have any code examples on how to write something like this?

I have no idea, but off the topic.. check this

hahah!
Sorry :-)
-
On the same subject, I still need the driver for the printer. Im kinda guessin that the driver i require is not availible. Does anyone know if there is a driver for another HP printer that will work on the 710 on the amiga? I have tried emailing HP direct, they aim to reply in 1 hour, after waiting 2 weeks i give up.
Any help appriciated.

Its not a case of Drivers for the 710C.
The 710C works differently from other HP Deskjets as HP have removed the internal PCL processor and works direct from a Host PC e.g. a Windows PC which produces RAW output instead of standard PCL output.
For more information see
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/printers/support_doc/bpd02937.html
Basically, the 710C will NEVER work on Amiga, Mac, Unix, Linux or any other OS other than Windows....
Buy another Printer...
-
now THAT sucks.
I bloody hate HP
Their brown sauce is nice on chips tho :-)
-
anybody wanna buy a HP710?
Muhahahaha :-)
-edit
Any recommendations on a printer that WILL work?

My recomendation would be a Canon S520. Separate ink tanks, very fast and accurate. At least for me... :¬)

Ah the good ol' "software printer"... I would have thought they would have canned that idea as a result of just how poor software modems are, but they're probably cheap to make.

Seen as it work's on my Linux box.. still no chance of printing on an amiga with it? Im not so sure that im beat yet! ;-)
