Title: Thomas Morris, AKA Magnetic on Amiga.org , AKA Eastcoaster212 on Ebay
Post by: amiga92570 on July 14, 2007, 01:11:19 AM
Do not buy from this seller, I purchased a drive from him three weeks ago. He said he would ship Priority mail. Its been three weeks and no drive, He does not respond to emails.

I filed a dispute on ebay and he responded very nice and told me he takes care of his amiga friends(god only knows how). He stated that its hard to deal on ebay with a dispute(I wouldn't know I never had one) and convinced me to drop the dispute. I did and after another week I still haven't received the drive and I tried to open dispute on item again and it says it has already been resolved. So I guess I am screwed out of the $82.00 and the drive. Buyers Beware, I have emails I can share if he disputes this on line here. This is the first problem I have had with a seller on ebay, Buyer beware!!!!!!!!

Do not tell Ebay that a dispute has been resolved when it has not.

I know that know(point taken). Lesson learned. That is exactly why I quit selling on Ebay, dead beat buyers. Now I guess I have to deal with dead beat sellers.

Seeing the feedback for this seller (IIRC 80-something percent) I would never have done business with him/her anyway.

Interesting to know the other pseudonyms though.

I've watched items from this seller before. I got bitten by "Boogiegail" once and Eastcoaster212 has some similar feedback comments so I decided to cross that person off of my list.

Good luck with a resolution. Hopefully they will still come through. I'm not sure what you can do now that the dispute is closed. You might try contacting ebay and see if that helps. I can personally vouch for you. With the 3000 deal we had, you certainly went above and beyond the call.  Good Luck and thanks again.
Jeff

The UX is great, thanks. You were right the motherboard is mint and the packing job was unbelievable. I saved the carton:-D

Sorry to here about the drama with the floppy on ebay. Perhaps you will still come out alright though who knows.

I may PM you soon. I am looking for a couple more bits. I would like to find out what you have that you are not going to be keeping. BTW have any pictures of the collection?

I have not had time to take many pics. I hope I get my money or the drive I purchased but the gentleman does not respond to emails. I am glad you liked the packing, I started using the Dell boxes because they are very sturdy and we buy about 100 a month so I figure why not recycle, ahhha.. I wonder what dell would think of shipping amiga's in Dell crates.  :-)

Hey Jeff here are a couple of shots. I am going to try to get a new Camera as this one sometimes takes good shots and sometimes they look like squat. Hopefully next month I can get one, this one has served its purpose I guess. Anyway here are a couple shots.

Well, to email him he seems nice enough, but I am out $82.00 and he kind of tricked me into closing the dispute on ebay, so I thought I would warn anyone that is thinking of dealing with him.

Yeah he said he was a dealer for 10 years. If he had problem with the drive that would be ok, but he gave me a story about being able to ship only weekly. Its been three weeks and since I paid instantly it seems priority mail isn't what it used to be. I doubt that. I have sold many things on ebay and priority has always delivered within 4 days.

I met him once at a Pegasos show, and he seemed like a decent enough fellow.  :pissed:   That's a damn shame, and hope you get your drive or your money back.  Did you pay via Paypal?  Is there any way to do a dispute resolution through their service?

he convinced me to retract my dispute. so I wrote paypal but as right now I cannot file a dispute because they say it has been settled. NOTE: do not ever settle a dispute no matter what a seller says until you get the item.

Thanks, I hope so to. If he actually completes this deal or refunds me, I will post. By the way the SCSI kit I sold you is very fast. It seems faster than the cyber 3 but I guess it depends on the drive.

You know, this kind of makes me think of the time someone near  to me sold a 3000t of mine because I didn't pick it up fast enough. I was renting a room at the time during a divorce and the landlord sold one of  the items I left behind when I moved out. I guess no one will keep thier word. That was a while ago but I dare to think I would have had 3 3000t's. I will always miss it. :boohoo:

AWESOME bike. My brother and I are riding ours to Laguna next weekend, can't wait.

Good luck with getting your issue resolved, unfortunately this sort of thing is somewhat common in amiga-land.

Get on that sweet boxer of yours and you'll forget all about it for a while. :-)

cheers

I think you may have been a bit hasty in filing a dispute, which sometimes can %$#& the other party off.  I know that Thomas has been busy lately and I believe he still travels between the West Coast and N.Y. fairly often.  His work has recently forced him to cancel some other things that he had planned.

I know that you are probably anxious to receive your drive, or a refund, but for most sellers, eBay is a minor, secondary occurrence in their lives and sometimes other matters take a higher priority.

Having dealt with Thomas in the past on several purchases, I would guess that this is the case and that you will eventually get your drive, or your money back.  It may be delayed more by your actions and negative remarks left here.

I don't condone such behavior, and don't know if that is happening, or will happen, but know that some individuals use such behavior to retaliate when disagreements occur.

I hope that it will all be worked out soon for your sake and things can be patched up between Amiga users.

Good luck, try to communicate directly and not here, and exercise as much patience as you can force from yourself.

That is no excuse.  If you don't have the time to do it properly, then don't do it at all.  He took the money quick enough.

Amiga Dave, How is my 3000t doing? I heard you were the one that purchased it. Just for your info, that 3000t has a dead 030 chip on board. You can not run it without the accelerator. I was going to pick it up one day and change boards as I have a spare one. But alas I heard it was sold when I called to get the rest of my stuff. As for retaliation I don't work like that. I was just warning amiga users. I communicated with Thomas up until I purchased the drive and discussed the priority mailing. After purchase all communication ended until I filed dispute. After he convinced me to drop dispute, all emails were unanswered again. Don't try to second guess me, I have a 100% feedback on ebay and I am a very tolerant person. I also have a more than full time job, but when I sell things I make sure to get shipments out the day after payment. I consider it my responsibility as a seller. I do not have time for people who make deals though and do not follow through. I deal with Softhut a lot and quite often he tells me shipment will be delayed, but at least he tells me so. As far as Thomas goes, its up to him to uphold his end of the bargain. I paid instantly and paid for priority shipping, its been three weeks with no mention from him as far as whats going on. Sounds reliable to me.

@amiga92570

Hope you can get either your drive or money back, I know what it's like being ripped by people on Ebay (boogiegail 4000D motherboard). I feel it is happening more and more lately and even if someone has 100% rating as buyer/seller. I purchased a video card from an ebayer 8800GTX for 400.00 and never received it from the person after several emails and promises. The guy had 130 some purchases/sales and 100% rating then took a dive and ripped 4 others besides me for a total of about $2500.00. I did file a dispute with PayPal and recouped 200.00 from PayPal since there was 200.00 buyer protection on the sale. I don't know how you paid or if there was any buyer protection on the auction might be worth checking into.

Just wondering what type of drive you purchased from him?

Good luck
