Title: Chips to have for A2000
Post by: hamtronix on July 13, 2007, 11:49:57 PM
So I have an A2000 (hooray) and am wondering that since I see chips for Amiga on Ebay quite a bit if it is a good idea to purchase some as backup in case of problems. What chips are good to have if any as backup?

Logic would tell me that a spare motherboard with all chips would be a good bet  :lol:
Darn it, I'm working as a "Reliability Engineer" at the moment, and I keep thinking in MTBF and FPMK  :crazy:
Time for a :pint:

The only chips that are really in danger of getting fried due to shortcuts or whatever are the CIAs.

Agreed. I have a stack of 2000's and they seem to be very reliable. Sometimes the power supplies get old and fail, and the batteries pose some danger if not cared for just like other Amigas.

The good thing about 2000's is they are pretty easy to find and inexpensive. You could probably pick up a complete spare machine for parts.

All :)
Denise is notorious for causing problems. I have had bad CIAs ruin my day too.

I strive to have a "parts mule" for each machine type I own.

@gdanko
I love your A3500. It would look really nice between my A3000T and A4000T:-D
