Title: Wanted: A2090 SCSI/MFM controller
Post by: nimtene on July 09, 2007, 11:55:45 PM
Please let me know if you have one of these
available. I know they're not the easiest
of things to use, nor the best choice, nor
the fastest, etc, but I need one to access
data I have on an old MFM hard drive. Also,
if you have a A2090B (Autoboot Card) as well,
that would be very useful to me. Thank you!

Regards,
Chris Vick

I don't know where either of you are, but McVenco just posted a message about a 2090;

Thanks, but I already talked to him; He
had sold his A2090 about six months ago.

If I'm not wrong, I should have one into my A2000 and I could swap it... if you're interested, send me a pmail!

Where are you located?

Alex

I've got an A2090A (autoboot!) shelved, unused for ~10 years when I played with it in my A3k (it did work) - what's the offer? Anything to swap? Where are you at?

I think I might even have a 20 Meg ST506 HDD that should work with it... :-D

If you want to access an old MFM drive it must have been formatted with the very same controller type.

Understandable; How many possibilities does this
leave me with? A2090 or A2090a? Any others? If it
was formatted with the A2090a, will the A2090 not
work, etc?

I just wanted to point out that an A2090 would not get you data written by another controller. A2090/A are interchangeable in that respect, of course. No other choice though.

I used it with MFM harddisk and was surprised to see it working fine. You just need some binddrivers or something. I used dcp to dump all hdd into single file like dd on linux.

Just checked by cards. I have 5 A2090 and 1 A2090a.
Might have some cables.

Have sent out the requested 2090A card to nimtene.

Amigakit,
I know your a professional dealer, but he asked for an MFM controller. When you digress (wander off the main topic) just to sell a SCSI controller, that WOULD NOT work with a MFM drive, it stinks. Alas, it means you need a new pair of glasses.   RE: movie "My Cousin Vinny".
At worst, it reveals an ethical problem.
