Post by: hamtronix on July 09, 2007, 04:52:29 PM
A couple of A3000 floppy drives on ebay, will these work in my A2000?

Both A2000 and A3000 should use Chinon FB-354.
The only difference is the eject plastic button.

If they're the standard DD floppies, yes.

This must be the one you're talking about. ebay auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/Amiga-3000-floppy-drive-2_W0QQitemZ140135369765QQihZ004QQcategoryZ74945QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

However, he said this
Quote
For Sale: 2 Amiga 3000 floppy drives. Pulled from a working Amiga.

Items are in good physical condition but is sold as-is since I cannot fully test them

Looks like he's parting out an A3000, that sucks. If he pulled them from a working A3000, why doesn't he know if they work? Too bad he doesn't have a picture.

That means that they have no faceplate. It'll look rather ugly on your A2000. And the special eject button means that if you use a normal drive face plate you'll have to cut a wider hole.

edit, he he, you guys are fast.  :-)

Yes, you're right!  :-D

However, if you have to change defective A2000 drives, you can use their plastic parts on the "new" A3000 floppy drives.

Im actually looking for another drive for my recently purchased A2000 so it sounds as if these are too much of a trouble to mess with when I can buy an external, although it isnt nearly as cool.
