Post by: stopthegop on July 09, 2007, 10:07:00 AM
Finally, someone who doesn't hide behind "Untested" to sell broken goods.

Non working Blizzard 1260 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Blizzard-1260-Commodore-Amiga-1200-A1200-accelerator_W0QQitemZ220129160845QQihZ012QQcategoryZ4598QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

I always describe my items accurately. Never sold a untested item, or a broken item.

I don't think there is anything wrong with selling an 'untested' item as long as you offer a refund.

Or just sell as untested, as in an old card someone puts for sale and does not have an amiga to test it with. But, just sell it untested, don't specify it used to work, of course it worked at some point in its life. Maybe not now.

In my case I have several chips on ebay, I cannot test all items because I don't have an A500 or A2000 anymore. These were working to the best of my memory before storing them away, I think it's only fair to offer a refund to the buyer within reason.

That way, you don't really have much to lose as a seller because the items are old anyway and the buyer doesn't end up brooding and feeling ripped off.

I always say when I last tested or used something I'm selling to give the buyer some idea of how much risk they might be getting into. Especially old floppy disks, but then I always say that they also might not still work because they're old. The idea is that I've told them what to expect because I don't really want the hassle of having them return it. And, mostly, because I don't want it back at all. :-) I've used untested before, but not when I know something is broken, just when I've never used something I'm selling or if it's been quite a while since I've used it. Fair warning is the key. And, caveat emptor canem. ;-)
