Any ideas?

SGrab (http://www.aminet.net/package/util/wb/sgrab) is good.
Oh, but wait, I don't ever help anyone!

nice one Piru! :lol:

@Piru
:lol:

yes very funny... thanks!

BTW. I have problems grabbing screens with moving stuff with SGrab... is there any trick for it? Seems like screen gets updated while SGrab is grabbing it... for example SnapIT (on MOS) seems to work much better on that case...
-
SGrab does have some issues. For example I've noticed that if the particular volume it tries to write to pops up a requester (for any reason, say the volume needs to be inserted), SGrab locks the system up.
Indeed, there are other nice tools available aswell, but SGrab is quite good app for AmigaOS 3.x (it has usable GUI, grabbing to jpg/png/ilbm directly, mark&grab etc).

SGrab is indeed a great screen capture util with a lot of functions. But I personally found it to be *too* good and kept forgetting how to work it properly. So I've gone back to CyberGrab (http://aminet.net/search?query=cybergrab) activated from a ToolsDaemon menu so that it doesn't take a screengrab including its own start icon. If you have a few screens open you can quickly hold down the left A key and tap on the M key to toggle to the screen you want to capture. The captures are in ILBM but I load them into PPaint and convert them to PNG for the A1200 Desktop, or load them into Cyber-Photogenics and convert them to JPEG in the A4000 with GFX card :-)

I'm not going to laugh at that. Oh, but wait, yes I am :lol:

I got sgrab to work and may try out cyberscan.....
anyway thanks... hope to be posting some sceenshots.
been back on the old 4000... posting right now.... it works. but I can't get the emoticones to show up... otherwise I might laugh also. I'm NOT always to be taken all to seriously.....seriosly.

A4000_Mad:
SGrab also works from command line, so you can include it to any script or tool manager etc... I have SGrab as a global hotkey in Magellan.. so I just hit certain key combination to grab any frontmost screen to ram: as png. And with little delay, so that I have time to open some menu or whatever I want to include in the shot. I don't like to use any GUI:s or icon clicking or similar on this kind of job :)
TurboPrint also has nice grabber with hotkey...

@Piru
Obviously, I have missed something.
But what and where?

Actualy whis is not a problem with SGrab. You can reproduce this lock up in many different ways. While AmigaOs3.5 was being produced, and later Amigaos 3.9 I pointed the programmers to this bug but it was never fixed. If two same thing happened exactly at the same time (opening of a new screen at the same time a requester opens, opening a menu at the same time a new screen opens) AmigaOS would freeze. It had been the main problem for me with AmigaOS since the beginning. Actualy it started to happen more after I started using fast processors because I was working much faster with the OS until then.

@TiredOLife
Humiliating tirade (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=29906).
Poor child. :lol: I pity his parents.

@bootWB
thanks for you help.....maybe you have too much time on your hands? :crazy: Don't worry about my parents, unlike you I moved out years ago.

Wow... humour from Piru?! :-o :-)

@Guru
You will notice that when I said
Humiliating Tirade
Poor child - I pity his parents
I did not specify whose tirade I was referring to. Interesting that you infer I was referring to you.
I'm not denying that I was referring to you, I just find it interesting that you infer this from a non-specific reference. Quite revealing about how you feel you are perceived by others.

thanks...
anyway what screen cap utility do you prefer? Let stay on topic..... as we could go on with innuendo and such for years.. and it would be fun but may we should open a special thread for that.
I kinds like sgrab, it has a nifty GUI. still need to use it more, it does appear to freeze the computer for a moment... but it delivers.
