Title: Fat Agnus in an A500
Post by: Cyberus on June 24, 2003, 08:28:46 PM
I have one of the later revsions of the A500. It has the Fat Agnus and therefore can address 1MB of Chip RAM, yet only has 512K on the motherboard.

How do I go about getting 1 MB chip RAM? Will a trapdoor expansion automatically be addressed as Fast RAM? Is there essentially a void where the memory addresses of the extra 512KB Chip would be?

The trapdoor ram/ Ranger RAM will be accessed as chip ram.
Sometimes you have to set a jumper if I remember correctly, search Aminet for docu.

Hello,

The "trapdoor" expansion will almost certainly be
addressed as fastram. Depending on your
motherboard revision you may have to perform
mild surgery for the trapdoor ram to be
accessed as chipram. Download "A5001MChip.lha"
from aminet for instructions.
