This might just well ... be the stupidest question Ive ever asked, but oh well here it goes. I just got a A500 off of ebay dont have a monitor yet will get one soon. When you turn it on isnt the power light supposed to stay solid red? Mine just blinks. .... think I got ripped. Or is it smart enough to figure no monitor is hooked up to it. :-(

Been a while for me, but does it 'calm down' if you feed it a Workbench disk?
(Don't use a non-disposable one, of course!)

If I remember correctly the flashing LED indicates a ROM error. Use a torx screwdriver to open the Amiga 500 case , pull the RF shield off and reseat all the chips on the Motherboard. (Please take Static precautions).
It's probably either the Fat Agnus (Square Chip) or Kickstart the has become unseated during shipping.
IIf you had a Monitor connected the Screen would be a Red Colour.

:-x And if any chips are gone altogether, report the seller to e-bay.

I would also get a flashing pwr led when chip memory died (soldered in). And the Green screen of death

Just wanted to thank you all for your advice. I took it apart and being very careful made sure every thing was secure. No it works ... but new problem I got 2 extra screws ;-) But hey it works now just have to find a 520 or a monitor cable. Thanks again Everyone

Ah, doh on me.
Now I recall that my 2000's flashing-power problems were triggered by some issues with the failing drive on the 2091, though.. which would explain why I remember reaching for the Workbench disks each time. ;)

No question is a stupid question, but some answers could be :-P

It is possible that the chips or roms could have come unseated in transport as for the a520 these turn up alot on ebay . monitors turn up a lot on ebay just have to keep checking.
