Title: Wiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!11!1
Post by: motorollin on June 19, 2007, 02:29:25 PM
Finally got my hands on a Wii. It's great :-) Of all the games I got with it, by far my favourite so far is Wii Sports, which comes with the Wii anyway

Anyone else have one?

I bought one as soon as it was available here. It's amazing!!!
Have completed Zelda and Red Steel by now. I'm waiting for Resident Evil  :-D

I'm still planning to get one, but maybe I'll wait until they are permanently available in the shops, rather than waiting a month or two after ordering one.

We have been asking for months in the shops, then a couple of weeks ago we just happened to go in on the day they had stock. I almost fell over when the shop assistant told me they had them!

1. It gets you moving around
2. It's refreshing to play a game with such a different control method
3. The games are actually fun and innovative, unlike a lot of console games

Are the controllers 'sturdy'?
So that they can take a drop to the floor
or a throw at the wall?

Isnt it tiresome to be swinging the controller
back and forth repeatedly?

Yup, I got one too.
Ive got Wii Sports (Well it comes with the console so..), Wii play (for the remote tbh) and Prince of Percia (Which is full of bugs, like no sound in places, argh)

Im stuck on Prince of Percia at the moment, where you fight the two guys, one with a sword and one with an axe, I know what I should do, I just suck at doing it ;-)

I love the picture view/video player/bad mp3 player though.
Just wish it could play mpeg or something other than stupid motionjpeg

Anyhow, if there is enough a.org wii users maybe we should exchange wii friend numbers. :)

Heh, we have them here available all the time :) I'm not very interested, but strangely my wife is pushing me to get one. Since it's little bit expensive for our budget (about 200$) we'll wait till we get back from the summer holiday.

We has a Wii day at work and the software developers (4 of us) played doubles tennis on the projector screen.

It was pretty cool... I was skeptical but I really enjoyed it after I played for awhile.

It's really the most fun with more than one person... family games or a few friends having some drinks and it becomes a lot of fun :)

Yeah, I've had one the past few months... Very class things are the total Gamecube compatibility and the virtual console... Picture viewer etc. is good, internet browser is handy at times. The controllers are great! They'll take a fair lot of abuse (like most Nintendo hardware) and they're very simple to use and get used to. your arems don't really get that tired - if you were holding any other sort of controller you'd probably get tired anyway from holding it. It doesn't require much movement to control it, but that goes out the window when you get into a competitive game with someone - arms flying everywhere ;) You'd do well to heed the warning at the start of every game though: Put the wrist strap on properly! That's saved my controller from sailing across the room a couple of times!! You wouldn't have to worry about dropping it then anyway...

The casings feel very sturdy. I don't think they would crack. The buttons might break though. Probably best to use the wrist strap to stop them flying off or falling if you let go.

Yep, I got one for Xmas.  My wife and family conspired together and managed to get me on launch day.

It is a lot of fun, which is something that I had found been lacking from the video game market for some time.  I'd almost given up on games altogether.  The only problem is lack of software still, something that is not being helped by by Nintendo of Europe (Still no date for Super Paper Mario  :madashell: )

Zelda is a pretty classy game, but no necessarily for everyone.

Red Steel is an odd one.  If it came out on PS2, XBox or whatever it would just plain suck.  It's very evident that the game was rushed to launch (buggy AI, lack of polish).  However for some reason, it's still loads of fun pretty much because of the controls and the immersion.  Some people (particularly Americans for some reason - there is a huge difference in average scores for the game in the US and in Europe) found the bounding box control method for turning strange and too slow, whereas personally after a bit of practice it became quit natural.

Sonic - A lot of people liked it, I found it rather dull.  Although I hate this version far less than any of the previous 3D Sonic games.

SSX Blur - I haven't played this much, and I haven't played a snowboarding game since Cool Boarders on the PS1 so I'm not the best judge.  Direction controls work really nicely, but I suck at doing tricks which seem quite hard.  The presentation on the game is really nice.

Excite Truck - Big dumb arcade-y racer.  About as far from GT as you can get.  I love big dumb arcade games so I find this a ton of fun.  Tilt left and right to steer and there is a button for accelerate and one for turbo boost and that is it.  Hit the special bonuses to make the track deform.

Godfather - For me this is (after Wii sports)  THE Wii game.  This video gives you an idea, but I don't think it does it justice.

I have to say, I've never really been into GTA type games, I find them really dull, but this one is really great fun.

Wow. Now I really want one...

See if I can sell some more (non Amiga) stuff on Ebay so I can make some resources to buy one :-)

Wii got one, well, my kids do. Love it. Brilliant device! No longer are the kids sitting couch-potatoes on a rainy day, playing the Gamecube.

The only downside of the machine is it's dutch availability. Wii reserved last april. Then my wife calls late may and she was told they (the shop) were just filling January's reservations! Auch.... Strangely enough, rumours had it that there were plenty in Germany. So, a quick look at amazon made us get a Wii within a week, and that's including a bank-holiday inbetween. And it cost me as much as it would have when buying down the street.

Bowling is big fun... although the neighbour didn't agree as wii were cheering a bit to loud. Guess shii is just jealous ;-)
