Title: Fun with the RTC
Post by: Matt_H on June 06, 2007, 11:58:47 PM
I finally got around to replacing the battery in my A3000 today. I had pulled the old one ages ago, but there looked to be a tiny bit of acid that I missed and there was some PCB discoloration just past the negative terminal on the board. Got it cleaned up as best as possible and installed the new battery. One SetBatt, SCISPrefs, and power cycle later (well, several power cycles to be certain), everything looked to be working fine.

Except when I boot into 1.3 (got those 1.4 ROMs that let me do that), it says "Battery Backed up Clock Not Found" during the startup-sequence.

So is something broken or is 1.3 just dumb?

The 1.3 Setclock is too dumb to read the A3k's RTC (which differs from the A500/2000 one). Try alternative versions of Setclock, I did find a working one, but can't remember where it came from.

Excellent. Just the answer I was looking for. Thanks!
