Apparrently they are low power and low heat so should be fine for laptops (though it doesn't mention this in that article).

By the time IBM have shrunk these babies into a form suitable for desktop/laptop usage Intel will have faster, and more importantly, cheaper chips.

Also Apple using Intel isn't just about the CPU.  Do you realise how much it costs to develop support chipsets?

Apple save so much more money by using other peoples hardware now.

I humbly doubt it... not only does intel offer higher quality and lower cost for Apple, but the ability to run windows (even if few do after getting used to OSX...) is a massive bonus...
