Title: adf2disk
Post by: Desolator on November 21, 2002, 03:09:59 PM
anyone tried this piece of software out?
I can't get it to work correctly. I issue the command adf2disk program.adf and it says "writing to disk" and finish off with a "disk completed" or something like that, but when I try to access the disk it's either empty or a "not a DOS disk". It is an amiga formatted disk and not a pc one.

and the options to the adf2disk runfile is really weird described, you're supposed to be able to verify the disk but I can't get that to work either.

If the .adf file containing a disk-image of a game
or a demo it is possible that the disk you created has a non standard bootblock or a trackloader..
try to boot from the disk...

"try to boot from the disk..."

well, I would but in 9 of 10 cases, the disk ends up totally empty.  :-(  nothing to boot...

How can you tell it's empty?

Many demos/games have dummy filesystem that makes the floppy appear empty, but the actual demo/game data is read by the bootloader from the disk blocks. Only very few demos/games have their files on disk using the filesystem. Most of these appear NDOS to system, but no all.

Don't worry, I've spent hours trying to figure
out some of that stuff.   :-)

Hm, I think I know why it doesn't work now. I only tried it on my newer Amiga 1200 which got that converted PC drive as floppy. (Why, Oh WHY did they do something as stupid as that...) Will try it in my older A1200 and see if it works on that one.
