Which country are you in?
A friendly local Amiga owner is probably your best bet!

there are still friendly local dealers left?

Well, AmigaKit is friendly, though not local (at least, not for me!)
But there are plenty of friendly Amiga owners around, as A.Org shows!

I see that some of you are not local :-) Given that I'm in the USA, I should ask if there are regional differences in software, specifically software like Workbench 2.0 and Kickstart 2.0 :-?
If I can find this information and disks I'll be very pleased :-D

Hi,
Not sure if there were ever Kickstart ROMs / floppies produced with localisation (certainly, all the Amigas from English-speaking countries I've seen have had the same ROMs).
However, the Workbench software could be localised in varying amounts ranging from basic support in 1.3 through to more substantial localisation in 3.x. Even in this case, I believe the contents of the floppy disk media was the same in terms of available files, etc. - just configured different for each supported locale.
For example, a German Amiga might use a standard 1.3 ROM, with a Workbench disk localised for the German keymap, etc., but a simple matter to edit the preferences/Startup-Sequence to turn it into an English one.

I just put my extra set of 2.0 disks on Ebay. Currently at minimum bid of 99 cents.

I'm in the south west. Sure could use WB 2.0 and KS 2.0.
I went to the eBay site, but I need the original 2.0 version of WB, so my son tells me. He doesn't think we can use a later OS version to repair or replace what was corrupted. But, on the other hand, he was the one that corrupted the original "original" disks, so what does he know. :madashell: He's PC smart but Amiga challanged

The disks I'm listing are original OS 2.04 disks from an Amiga 2500. I think the only difference between OS 2.0 and 2.04 is just a few bug fixes. Almost all the OS2 disks out there are 2.04. The next major upgrade was OS2.1. That would also be compatible with your system. You would need a 3.1 rom if you wanted to install OS3.1 or later.
Amigas are a lot simpler and more tolerant and flexible than PCs. If you had copied all the files in your system partition to a folder on another partition, you could simply boot from a floppy and delete the corrupt files on your system partition and drag and copy the files from the backup folder to your system partition and reboot and everything would be as before. This is my Amiga backup system.

Hi ppl.
Just a tip: you could LEGALLY download an .ADF copy of the Workbench u need, IF YOU HAVE THE AMIGA WHO THAT COPY ARE INTENDED FOR.
I.E.: If u have a 600, you can download an .adf copy (or DMS, or wathever) of the 2.xx Workbench, but not a copy of other versions (specially 3.5~3.9, who are commercial products). With those copys u can restore the original disks on a booting Amiga system via AmigaExplorer (http://www.amigaforever.com/ae/).

Thank you too everyone.
I'm going to give the ebay route a try, unless some one offers up an original WB 2.0 OS set for sale.
My son is going the PC to Amiga cable route and planning to connect up our Amiga 2000 and an old PC running Windows 98 and planning on some AmigaDOS stuff. See why I need original disks......
