hello! I have recently bought an A1200 and I'm very proud and impressed of the graphics. But as I'm new in the amiga world, can you suggest me games and other soft to test them first?
thank you very much!
-
Welcome
-
What CPU do you have?
How much RAM?
How much HD space?
Amiga Rules!
p.s. Welcome to Amiga.org :-)
-
Even on a plain A1200 go for the Lotus 2 racing game !
Turrican II is also a must
As Battle Squadron, I think it needs a patched version in order to work with the A1200 graphics chipset (someone corrects me)
-
Start with some of the old classics like F/A 18 Fighter or Fighter Duel pro.
Pinball Fantasies will keep you entertained for a while. :-)
-
@ptek
Turrican II is also a must
That's what I thought before I even open the thread, you've got great taste. One of my favourite parts is the side scrolling shooter section got to be some the fastest scrolling I've seen in a game.
@ivanjpm
Here's a few.
Chaos Engine
Gods
Magic Pockets (I love the way the power up system works)
Speedball 2
Canon Fodder
Sensible Soccer (any version)
Alien Breed (any or all versions)
The Settlers
Populous
Syndicate
Walker
-
hi and welcome.
definatly Gods :-D
Wolfchild
Another world
Then
Flashback
Pushover
Desert strike
Deep core
but it all depends on what type o`ve games you like to play

With the exception of Pinball Illusions, every game suggested so far has been an Amiga 500 game. Since you just bought an AGA Amiga, I thought I'd suggest some games a bit newer and more visually impressive.
Give these a go:
For a stock-standard A1200:
Fightin' Spirit AGA - Arcade Fighting Game
Super Stardust - Raytraced Asteroids Remake
Slam Tilt - The Pinball Simulator
Aladdin - Platform game based on the Disney film
Banshee - Arcade Style Aeroplane Shoot-em-up
Kargon - First Person Perspective Fantasy RPG
Virocop - Destroy Viruses in an Infected Amiga
Overkill - Deluxe Update of Defender
Shadow Fighter AGA - One-on-one Beat-em-up
Speris Legacy - Cute Adventure RPG
Roketz - Fantastic 2-Player Gravity Shooter
Simon the Sorcerer - Funny Fantasy Adventure
Skeleton Krew - Console-style Gritty Blaster
Blitz Bombers - Multiplayer Bomerman Game
Worms: The Director's Cut - Comedic Strategy Wargame
Nick Faldo's Golf - Easy to play Golf
Deluxe Galaga AGA - The Ultimate Remake
Lords of the Realm - Medieval Trading and Strategy
Max Rally - Multiplayer Overhead Racing Game
For an expanded A1200: (Sorry, too tired for descriptions)
Genetic Species - 3D FPS
OnEscapee - Adventure/Platformer
Land of Genesis - Platformer/Shooter
Payback - Driving
T-Zer0 - Shooter
Virtual Ball Fighters - Puzzle
XTreme Racing - Racing
Wasted Dreams - Adventure
Bubble Heroes - Puzzle
Capital Punishment - Fighting
Final Odyssey - Adventure
Foundation: Gold - Strategy
Napalm - Strategy
-
Okay, so a few more AGA games were posted while I was typing up that list.

Dear Friend:
welcome. I also have an amiga 1200 and it is great, I had it for like 10 years. I still love my amiga. I use it for aladdin 4d, which is a great '3d animation' program for the amiga. I also use 'can do' which is a great authoring software..you can make your own programs with it. 'Amos professional' is super and easy to code your own amiga games, you can learn then make your own games.
'Movie setter' you can make your own cartoons and is easy.
Also, octamed is great for making your own music.
You can get all of these for cheap off ebay, and they are great. Cheers!!!!

Welcome. Wont name any games cause u have a pretty big list to go over already :)) :-D :-D
-
Welcome ivanjpm :-)
It never seems to get into popular games lists, but there is a great 3D game called Testament that runs amazingly well on an A1200 with 030 accelerator and 8 meg of fast memory :pint:

The thing is there's such a large variety of games to choose from that it largely comes down to what sort of games _you_ like.
Shoot-em-ups, Strategy, RTS, flight-sims, racing, God-sims, etc etc.
What do you reckon Ivan?

Hello and welcome to the Amiga world!
I am pleased with all the large list of games listed before
and I will add some of my own fauvorites games:
Awesome-Space Arcade (impressive)
Out Run-Racing
Ivanhoe-Medieval Arcade
Operation Stealth-Graphic Adventure
Brutal Sports Football-Arcade Sports
And for an Amiga 1200 I think the best are well covered
by others only if you have a 030/040/060:
Exodus-Strategy
Joyride-Racing
Simon The Sorcerer 2-Graphic Adventure
There is a large list, make your choice!
-
@amigadave
nice list but its missing "Super Cars 2"
:bump:
-
try some unique amiga games:
Lionheart
Gods
Chaos Engine
Agony
Benefactor
Beasts 1-3
Nowadays i only play strategy or rpg on pc, in the " good old World" i play this types of games too because these were masterpieces in their times.
