Hi there:)
Short version: I'd like to exchange my Blizzard PPC 1260 603e for somebody else's Blizzard 1260 and a bit of cash to make up the difference!
Long version [since some people naturally find this a bizarre request;)]: I have a 603e+ with 68060@50mhz, PPC@240mhz and SCSI (complete with original SCSI cable) in great working condition, and I run it in my A1200's desktop case as seen below. I love the desktop case and I wouldn't give it up for the world...which means I've had to raise it up on big rubber feet, a few extra centimeters off the desk, so I can have a heatsink and fan against the 68060 chip and also give the PPC a bit of room to 'breathe'. It gets quite warm, obviously, but it's at a level that's quite comfortable for working long hours on.
My problem is that I like to carry my Amiga around a lot - I use it when I play live gigs and I like to be able to take it to demoparties but the rather delicate setup underneath means it's very fragile for this. Since I don't use the PPC for *anything* at all (I basically only run trackers and non-PPC demos), it seems like I'd be better off with a straight-up and slightly cooler 1260, while someone who can make use of the PPC would be able to do so comfortably in a tower case! Seems a waste me having it and not making use of it... Finally, of course, it would mean dropping my A1200 that few cm back to normal height, taking the strain off my wrists when tracking late at night:)
This long, boring explanation is necessary simply because when I tell people I want to get a non-PPC 1260 instead of my PPC 1260, they get naturally suspicious...but this is why:) In the morning, I'll prod a few other, better established, amiga.org users who said they'll reply to this thread and back me up.
Here's a load of images of the card, my trapdoor assembly, the A1200 running with the card installed and a closeup of the 060 chip for anyone who's interested. Note that the heatsink on the 060 is held against the chip by the trapdoor, and that I haven't covered it with nasty adhesive or conductive paste (the sink/fan do their jobs well without).
Also, note the holes for the crystal oscillators - this is because the oscillators are a little loose. This is IMPORTANT for anyone interested in this swap/trade: they can't be soldered in, because the socket is plastic and it would melt, and because the card is upside down in a desktop machine, temporary options are limited to blu-tack or duct tape (neither of which solutions are good in the long term, for components that get warm :\). Again, the trapdoor keeps them clamped nicely in place and they also get a bit of fresh air to help dissipate some heat.

Running HivelyTracker 68k which, as anyone who's been following HT will know, will only run happily on a powerful '060:P This is my main reason for having a 1260 in the first place - I do most of my work in HivelyTracker.

I guess this will appeal primarily to someone with a towered A1200 project, but if somebody wants this for a desktop A1200, I'll also happily swap my cut-out trapdoor for your blank trapdoor...I'll even throw in the big rubber feet;)
Anyone interested, or know anyone who might be? Obviously, the practicalities will need a bit of negotiation, but all are encouraged to share their points of view on this proposal.

If you like the desktop case so much (like me) you shouldn't swap the PPC for a regular 060 but buy an BVision instead. They work inside the case 2 and you'll have a much better screen.

The board is called Blizzard PPC 603e+ not Blizzard 1260/PPC.
Considering the swap, well I do hope you get more for that card than just Blizzard 1260... It's worth say at least 3 1260s ;-)
Also note that Blizzard 1260 can't take as much memory as Blizzard PPC.

Well, it has to be said, all you PPC-craving Blizzard 1260 owners - THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO UPGRADE... :)
syphus is a very, very honest and trustworthy bloke and a well-respected scener in spite of his new membership to Amiga.org. I've known him for a while now and we're pretty close friends. People should have no qualms about getting in touch and striking a deal with him.
Best of luck to those interested, this is one hell of a card for your A1200s. :)

what? how dod u come to that conclusion?
1260's on ebay sell for 250-300 eur, I have yet to see a bppc sell for more than 400eur!
I sold my rev2 bppc with a real 60mhz 060 and a 200mhz ppc for 320eur last summer, and it was a fair price!
a 1260+130e is what I would give... u cannot even use grex with it being a phase5 card...

Well, this is the best Blizzard PPC card there is. 060, 240MHz, SCSI. It has to mean something.
And frankly 1260 is damn overpriced these days. I bet that 250-300 is even without a SCSI Kit? SCSI (and 2nd SIMM slot), which this board has onboard already...

@ InTheSand: That's screen1 of a 2-screen multimonitor setup...and the other screen is also full of icons;) The answer is I can't really find anything...
@ HellCoder: I'd love a bvision but a) I don't need to be tempted to spend more money I haven't got and b) it sounds like the heat would be quite intense...?
@ Piru: Thanks, out of all those numbers, I usually get a couple of them wrong. Then I forgot the + for the SCSI in my message body...d'oh.
Like the PPC, a vast amount of RAM isn't something I desperately need - 1260 takes 128(?) and I think my card takes 256, although I run it happily with just 96mb.

One other thing... Can anyone offer some suggestions as to the most acceptable way of carrying out an exchange like this? Is there some sort of protocol for who sends first, or the use of a third party, or even just doing two complete sales via something with receipts like Paypal?
How would you want it done, if it were you? Thoughts are welcome:)

I'd do it like this
You (wanting to do the swap) sends the item out (recorded delivery) and when the other person receives it they send you their card (also recorded delivery)
recorded delivery is very important so you can see when the person has actually received the card.
Alternatively, both ppl send cards to a 3rd party who then sends them on. (Still all using registered mail)
On another note: Where are you based? (UK/US/ETC?)

If it was me, I would take it like two seperate sales. At least get the price difference between the 603e+ board and the 1260 board before you send out your card.
And yes, recorded delivery only, insurance highly recommended, as packages DO get lost in the mail system every now and then, and these are expensive parts, and furthermore, not easy to replace.

Hi. I don't have a blizzard to trade but i do have an apollo 1260 @ 66mhz to trade.
It's only got the 1 simm slot so 32mb is max it will take. Another slot can be soldered on to get it to 64mb.

I've had a bit of interest already, and I'm asking interested parties to pmail me with offers that they think are reasonable price-differences between 1260 and 603e+.
In terms of the practicalities of the trade, I'm thinking the best thing could be for me to sell my card for an agreed price, taking payment via PayPal (and posting with registered/insurance) on the understanding that the other party sells their 1260 for an agreed lower price to me, also to be paid via PayPal etc.
Of course if people have other solutions, I'm happy to hear them:)

Looks at at A1200 tower with Apollo 1260/50 an other stuff rescued from a friend who was about to tip it. Wonders if it would be ethical to sell the Tower and accessories and swap the proceeds and 1260 for BPPC and keep it.
