Residents will had their chance to voice concerns about the proposed Amiga Center in downtown Kent at a public hearing organized by the Kent Hearing Examiner at 1:30 p.m. May 23 at City Hall.
here is a quote of the result:
Problem is, it isn?t entirely clear that Amiga has the money, or is even a viable business.

I see a lot of users sending concerns and complaints, but I could not find the part where Amiga Inc. had been "thrown our of Kent center".
Can you show me where the final determination to turn down Amiga Inc. proposal to purchase the naming rights is located?
-
Oh, Crap. There goes our new computer. :pint:
-
Hmm I wonder what the outcome was. Maybe I should of gone and straightened up all the non believers!
:argue:
-
The issue here is about the center itself, not about its potential name.
The very questionable issue about Amiga having 10 mil to spend for naming rights is a different issue.
So, did I get that right or am I lost here? I only spent 1 minute on the whole thing so, I might be wrong...
C'mon, somebody give me an award or slap me!!!
-
I think you are right... but I would like to take this cahnce to point out that this center if build will not be called the amiga center.... inc will never come up with the cash.

@c64_d0c
This comment seems to be pulled from an earlier article in April, not the meeting scheduled for May 23rd.
Following the hearing, the examiner will have 10 days in which to proffer a recommendation to the Kent City Council about whether the city should move forward on the center or not.
This says it will be many days before we know about any decissions made based on today's (May 23rd's) hearing. Also from what I read this hearing is about the Kent Center as a whole project, not specifically about Amiga's involvement. Though I'm sure the Amiga subject will come up.
I can't find any comment about Amiga being thrown out. Do you have a link or is that just wishful thinking? Based on the local time and the announced meeting time, the hearing should have been over a couple of hours ago. Any one see a link to details of today's hearing yet?

There's nothing in there that states that Amiga is being ousted, it all has to do with wether the center will be built or not. Lets get facts straight here.

Yes people lets state the facts! I plan on bringing down a A600HD and having a picture taken with it at the Amiga Center at Kent when it is finished!

What would be even more fun, take your whole amiga collection down to the Amiga Center and have your picture taken with them.
It would be fun to see all of them in one place.
But, you would probably get arrested for littering. :insane:

D0c, if you hadn't realised already, it's stupid {bleep} like this that got you the temporary ban at AW.

The Kent Reporter has a story on what occured at the hearing:
http://tinyurl.com/2yxtke
Here is a relevant section of the story:
"Edwin Thomas, a Kent resident, questioned the level of funding support the city had for the project. He cited media reports that Amiga, the company that purchased the center’s naming rights, has been unreliable in the past."
-
As to the greater question of Amiga's future with the Center, here is another story from the Kent Reporter, its titled, "Amiga: We are good for the money".
Its located here: http://tinyurl.com/22pb9h
Its an interesting read, learning how many members are supposedly on the board of directors for Amiga, that the baloon payment was not yet authorized by said board, etc.
-
just give the kent resident a couple of months to rethink and while they do that the ainc checks starts to bounching. then they will throw bill mcewen out, the tar and feather mob will be waiting!...

yes...I found this picture (http://lombardyelephants.freehomepage.com/images/clowns_as_politicians.jpg) of the AInc. board of directors particularly interesting.
