I'm trying to add an IBM UltraStar 9.1 GB SCSI harddisk using the 3.1 HDToolbox. I have a Blizzard 1230 IV with the SCSI kit. I am using the 1230scsi device with HD toolbox.
HDToolbox finds all devices on my SCSI chain but is unable to recognize the hard disk. When I try to set the configuration manully, the "Read Configuration" button retrieves the wrong geometry information at says the disk is 557MB, not 9.1 GB.
I don' have the disk geomerty and can't find it on the web. What can I do? Should I try a newer version of 1230scsi.device? Is there a repository somewhere that might have the geometry for this disk.
Thanks,
Bubba

I could be wrong, but I don't think the 3.1 version of HDToolbox can recognize a drive this big. I am pretty sure you will need the one from 3.9 to pull this off.
There was a discussion about this recently in the forums somewhere.
Good Luck,
Jeff

Try HDInst Tools instead (Aminet). If you're on a fully-3.1 system you're going to have 4GB issues, so you'll need some patches.

Thanks for the responses. I was able to create a partition on the drive using the Phase 5 SCSI tools.
I now have anothe issue. After creating the partition, I did a quick format on it and installed OS 3.1. However, my machine won't boot off the new partition. I believe the partition was marked bootable. My HD SCSI ID is 1 and my CD-ROM's ID is 0. Does the HD need to come first in the chain?
Thanks,
Bubba

I think your boot partition needs to be smaller than 4Gb. Is this the case?
The SCSI ID of a device has nothing to do with it's boot priority under Amiga OS (not sure about other OS'). It simply has to be unique for each device (regardless of OS).
