If he wants a truce he'd better start changing his habits and be a better person:

1. When selling on eBay, be more communicative and friendly, less sceptic towards other people, and Paypal might help too (I would never send cash even if I wanted something from him). And stop asking ridiculous prices. $500 for a bog standard A4000 is completely outrageous.
2. Accept that there are people who like all sorts of Amigas and -derivates. Stop calling non-A2000s pieces of cr*p.
3. Not acting like "I know it all better", but listen to other people's arguments. When in disagreement, use arguments instead of foul words.

I'm not really prejudiced, but I think he has to go through a lot to clear his name over here (and other places).

I agree with you McVenco.  I guess it's really up to Wayne and crewb but I read his post and it seems sincere.  With very few exceptions I think most people deserve a second chance.

IMHO of course.    :)

therail: Thanks for those links. It brightens up my day to read things like that, and of course since there are more new members here everyday, then we have a duty to inform them of good and bad things in the community   :-D

Give him a break, it just because he never got any! Yeah his comments seem sincere because he is not able to sell anything on ebay do to his actions. If you notice I think he is the only poster on his site. About his bringing amiga back to life, I suppose with his comments and feedback your going to see all the amiga trucks making deliveries to your locale Best Buy real soon.

Well if the members here at AO get to vote on letting him come back, MY VOTE IS H*LL NO!!!

We don't need his kind here again and leopards don't change their spots.  Besides, he is a creep that thinks holding his joystick is better than SEX. (wait a minute, that is the only kind of SEX he can get)

(I am usually a very forgiving and easy going person, but not in this case) :madashell:

Hey TjLaZer; you're biased as you're mod on his site! ;-)

Seriously though I say Doomy can stay where he is. His behaviour hasn't improved one bit. Just take a look at his eBay feedback.

Even if Doomy were on his best behaviour, I don't think the community would be generous enough to forgive or forget.

Heck, if Gandhi logged on as Doommaster he'd be swearing and arguing within 5 posts due to the inevitable baiting which would occur.

Whether Doomy has changed or not, there is no way he's going to be able to discuss and/or post in the same way as any other user would be able to. He just wouldn't receive the respect necessary to be able to have a meaningful discussion.

For the sake of Doomy, as well as everyone else, I would argue it would be a bad idea to reactivate (any of) his account(s).

Sorry Doomy.

Can you PLEASE shorten your link - use the link button when posting, rather than just entering the URL (hint:it looks like the "link" of a chain).

I'm on 1280x1024 here and I have to scroll along the page. I pity anyone trying to browse in 800x600 AGA.

I dunno, I think the only problem with Doomy is related to transactions. If you prohibit him from trading, I can't see the harm in having him back. He was entertaining with his mil-spec stories.

I disagree, there is harm in trolling.. and wasting time talking to someone who doesn't listen

I think he added value to the forum community, he does know his stuff and his stories were fun.   Come on we all got chuckles from them, we still do.

He just needs to start using paypal, shipping items a little faster and being nicer to potential customers and all will be better as far as that part goes!  :)

he can't use pay pal, most likely becasue too many people have reported him and he can't get another account.  Horrable seller.. nightmare.
He would appear to be a manic depressive as sometime he is cool and other times he is a dork.... that said there are many members here who spew more hateful and fals information than that guy....  I find it funny.... but I would give him about 4 days before he is back to his old self.

personaly I don't want to hear any more about the future of amiga or designing a new amiga ( as doomy mentioned) as I think thats a hair brained idea, no to mention misguided and unrealistic....

another suspicious behavior..... doomy doing tyling instead of playing retro comoputers! ;)

http://www.retrogeekcomputers.com/phpBB2/Kitchen_GeorgeSandingFloor01.jpg

my take on this? i think maybe he should be given another chance in the future... but he will need to prove himself before he we can even think about welcoming him back. his good points were he obviously was very knowledgable on the Amiga hardware/software/techie side of things, and he did give out some good technical advice. even tho he banged on about how great the a2000 is, i found it more funny than annoying and his other bunch of wacky stories. as long as you dont take these stories seriously, he is harmless and actually brightens up the 0place. heck, he may even had a point about the a2000, it was so much better than later amiga models in terms of it being built, space, etc. but his history in terms of buying/selling and ebay is gonna be the problems here. if he cleans up his act in that apratment then i would like to see doomy return. i would put him in the top 10 most knowledgeable users on the amiga.org forum.

I just think it's interesting that most people will look at the Amiga/Hyperion situation and say "Sort out your differences you morons" and not realise that this here is exactly the same thing but on a smaller scale.

WTF "Let him come back"???

Everyone here who wants to have a rollicking good time talking to George can head over to his forums and do so.  Or set up your own free webforums (there's plenty of tools you can do this with) and invite him over.

What, like pretending to be someone else and asking people if they knew if a CD-ROM drive could be fitted to an Amiga?

Sorry, but I wouldn't take advice from him even if it were free.  I've read way too many "People who modify their Amigas are idiots!" posts of his, he clearly knows very little of which he proclaims to be fact.

As for his abrasive attitude, he's upset a great deal of people and seems to thrive on being obnoxious.  Mil spec humour or not, he's one sick puppy and best left banned IMHO.
