Title: Installing a hard drive
Post by: Milo on June 19, 2003, 12:55:57 AM
Hey.
I recently purchased an amiga 2000 to use with my video studio. there were problems with the shipping of it and now the hard drive will not work. I have another hard drive but I can't seem to get the hard drive controller to identify it. When I pull up HD Tools, It says that the driver is not installed. can any one help me install the new drive so I can load all the software?  Its a 4 gig IMB drive and a IVS Trumpcard hd controller. Thanks-Phil

I don't think the Trumpcard supported Drives greated than 512 MB. I know the Supra didn't.

You may want to check the ribbon cable.
I just had a HD failier and the ribbon cable
worked when I opened the machine up but with
me swapping things around a few times the cable
developed an open and the drive wasn't reconized.
I replaced the ribbon cable and everything worked
fine.
It was a hard lesson to learn since I'm out in
the boonies, no decent computer store within
100 miles.

Hmmm... theres no mention of a size limit over at the big book of amiga hardware (http://www.amiga-hardware.com/trump2000.html).. *HOWEVER* the advert mentions a "user customisable driver" which sounds like its related to your problem.

I have no idea what that means, though...

Installers Heaven (http://www.l8r.net/install/hdc.html) have a driver disk for the Trumpcard, though.
