Title: problem with my 604e card
Post by: spider on June 18, 2003, 04:52:27 PM
Hello!
I have a ppc 604e card in my tower a a3000 board, usb and mediator. Recently my Amiga would not boot it would freeze after it loaded asimcdfs. After some touble shooting I had to disable the two files used to activate the ppc chip. So it now boots, it recognizes the 64mg of ram. I have the cybppc.device in use. Any ideas? but the ppc chip is not running and in all probility I will not be able to use os4 unless and until I get the ppc chip working Help!
  :-?  :-(  :getmad:

If its a hardware problem, Hyperion are doing a deal where you can get it fixed without risking it disappearing into the DCE vortex of doom.

Check the fan on the board. Those can die, and the system overheats. Based on your description, I don't think that's the problem, but it might be worth looking into.

I have an A4000 and I'm refering to an old IDE CD-Rom drive (Toshiba 4x). I had some problems a time ago: When the CD was in the drive (cold boot), the Amiga wouldn't start (reset, some HD reading, led blink, reset and so on). If I inserted the CD once the WB was loaded, it would just reset the system (with no warning/software failure). I changed the drive and I had no problems since that.

I hope not to be any serious thing (the PPC itself). Try to unplug-disable the CD-drive (a scsi I think).
