I have just bought a Amiga 500 from Ebay, which was actually my first computer.
Is there anyway I can download games from the net and then use them in my Amiga? Can anyone help?

You might want to try LemonAmiga (http://www.lemonamiga.com/)
From the site
We offer downloads of games licensed as public domain, freeware, shareware, or games which we've got permission to distribute. Commercial Amiga games are copyrighted, and as such distribution would be illegal.
I'm sure someone could suggest more. There used to be a really good one but I can't remember its name.
Ok. Going back to my happy place now. (http://http:\\64.33.47.100\images\a1000anim.gif)

Hi, google ....sadly the best places for Amiga games are gone.......
Maybe you may fare better, but if lemon Amiga is anything like lemon 64...I would avoid, very nasty people..... I don't take kindly to someone talking around me, saying I should read the FAQ, when I have owned a 64 since I was like 16 years old. ....Or thereabouts...(I know I bought my first Amiga, a 500, yay, when i was 18..)
(i'm 36 now... )
Good luck!
ps. I still own and use 2 C-128 systems, and 1 C-64, have an A1200 Tower, '060, plus 2 lesser A1200's, CD32, 1 A4000 040/warpengine/64MB....should have my other 4000 sent back soon....

Those sites are all illegal. The posting guidelines prohibit you from recommending them. Please remove them from your post.

@ moto: OK, maybe some sites are illegal, but Ami sector one is supposedly 100% legal.... primarily freeware/shareware and certain commercial software that has ben allowed by the publisher....
Maybe, I am wrong, H%&^, how can a person legally get Amiga games now???? I have lots of original disks, most don't work anymore on my amigas. What do we do??? NO, I DO NOT ENDORSE PIRACY, but I would like Amiga games to have some kind of future......
look, ban me from A.org, if you want.....don't care anymore,....I would hapilly pay Factor 5 for an original of Turrican3, Lost my original after moving... they offer DL's for owners of original software....but they don't work....
Really hate to leave A.org,.....

marcfrick2112, I agree with you. It's 15 years since the games were sold. I'm no gamer, but if I miss a game from the past, I'm downloading it.
But, in motorollin's defense, I don't want to see Amiga.org turning into a warez orgy either.

I do agree with you skurk.
I have bought a lot of used "big-box" games on ebay and similar places. Take Beneath a steal sky for example. Started installing, corrupted disk 10... What am I suposed to do? Ofcourse I download it from the net, I do own the original, so I don't see it as piracy. I think the game makers (the artists) prefer that we download copies to preserve and enjoy their work, it's not like they would get paid if we bought it...
But this is not the place for exchanging links. And I do enjoy to have the original box!
Just waiting for my "Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy" from ebay. I am currently playing the online flash game (hosted at bbc), I got the babelfish! Without cheating, but now Im stuck...

I didn't express any opinion about piracy. And I agree with you that it is very difficult to find Amiga software any other way. But there are very good reasons why it is not allowed to discuss the illegal distribution of software on this site - most importantly that it would only take one complaint from a copyright holder and amiga.org could be shut down. So there's no need to run away crying, just please read the posting guidelines and we can all get along.

@ravnen:
If the game plays out the storyline of the book, stick the babelfish in your ear and then listen to what the Vogons are saying :-)

@motorollin:
It starts up like the book, but it shifts off.
Check it out (on a flash enabled browser) here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers/game_nolan.shtml)
Ofcourse the original game does not include any graphics :)

I think the easiest solution is to get a nullmodem cable and AmigaExplorer (http://www.amigaforever.com/ae/)

@dantaylor
On Amiga Flame there is a webpage which acts as an access point making it easier to locate Amiga games from a variety of sources which offer legal downloads.

You may be better off joining EAB (English Amiga Board) (http://eab.abime.net/index.php) if you need help with games. :-D
