Hi, you need to carefully open it up and look to see if you have the hard drive cradle fitted. I assume you have got a 2.5" drive ?? You then need a short cable to fit it to the IDE header.
-
The space for a 2.5" HD is to the top left with a 2.5" cable connector.
There isn't much space for a 3.5" drive, a towered A1200 would be better. You will need to add a power splitter from the floppy power to power the 3.5" drive as no power header is available for 3.5" is provided.
If you have WB 3.0 or 3.1, do not use any more than 4GB unless you use SFS or PFS to enable disk space beyond the 32bit limit otherwise you need Workbench 3.5 or 3.9.

hi. it is a 21/2 inch drive it says it on it.
i will take alook there is a thing that has 2 more pins than the 21/2 inch connsctor cable????
-
There are indeed normally a couple of unused pins at one end of the 'dual in line' pins on a 2.5" drive. You must make sure you get the cable in the correct orientation as the 5V is also fed through the cable (while a 3.5" drive has a seperate 'Molex' connector for power).
Do you have a drive preformatted with AmigaOS or do you have the HD install disks ready ?
Can you see a cradle to fit the hard drive inside the A1200 ?
Good luck :-)

hi. its pre formatted with os 3.1
thanks
