What is going on with Amiga inc.?
They are not able to produce some state of the art hardware.
We live in 2007 and they now promised 667mhz hardware when everybody is playing with gigaherz.
It can't be that difficult to produce some good hardware based on powerpc and amigaos.
Then you can position it between playstation, xbox and wii.

The Amiga will never ever be mainstream. More of a 'If you like Amiga and you know it clap your hands.....' LOL, sorry stupid elementary song.
But yea, Good hardware or not, AmigaOS will dream to have good java compiler, decent web browser, and good games to compare to todays.
But we are not gonna get into a fight about this. Classic gaming on amiga is just plain awsome. But trying to put Amiga to today's games, that is a difficult one. :-)

They have said from the start, they wont make hardware, only licence the Amiga name for other peoples hardware.

The most popular console at the moment is the Nes Wii which us running in the Mhz not Ghz (ok its 900 and something Mhz but still ;-) )

Try it Mr, it costs a lot of money and takes a lot of time to make a new computer, debug it, write software for it, etc.

The Amiga is never going to see the spotlight again, its just a retro machine now, which doesnt mean it wont develope, just that it would be really doubtful it will ever be "Mainstream" again.

On one hand, it would seem that we've all be duped in light of the lawsuit. On the other hand, I don't believe that Bill would out right lie about the new hardware announcement that was made last week. He obviously prepared that lawsuit prior to the A-Inc./ACK announcement (and after the Hyperion/ACube announcement - for obvious reasons). Yet, chose to release the A-Inc./ACK announcement before filing the lawsuit. In light of the Kent deal, I can't believe that he would cut off his nose just to spit his face (or rather Hyperion's). That would be suicidal! Filing the lawsuit did, however, ensure an immediate course for A-Inc. to market and sell OS4. A-Inc. doesn't have to prove anything in court to do that. A contract is a contract. That ball's in Hyperion's court. So, I have every reason to believe that A-Inc. will announce a system by the end of the week. At least when I think thru this in a logical manner, it would seem possible to me.
Side note: (and please, no disrespect intended but,) who is Methuselas on this forum and how is it that this person would know details of any potential hardware partner that A-Inc. would be dealing with? I mean, first there is an announcement by Bill of an A-Inc./ACK deal then Methuselas throws out the possibility of an A-Inc./ACube deal. Which is another indicator that there really may be an announcement of a new Amiga/OS4 machine this week yet in my mind...

What do you need more than 667 MHz for? No, seriously?

try to write a good music composer program, which is handles real-time effectc like reverb, delay, phaser, flanger etc. And doing this whit about 20-30 sample at the sam time.
On my pc fruity-loops die some of my music, because of not enough cpu time. (I have a core2 1,86GHz intel cpu, and fl 7 is handle the 2 core of it.)

Bah. Another one who thinks of the Amiga as a purely game console...
Seriously, I hate that. :pissed:

A decent web browser would be nice.

Give the machine (once it materializes) to one of the old-school really talented coders (like the ones that squeezed every single bit out of the good old C64 to create really awsome games, or the ones that did OctaMED running on very modest Amiga's) and I can't see no reason why it should be not fast enough. One of the main reasons (as I see it) for WinBoxes to have such fast machines is because code-optimizing doesn't seem to be a hot topic these days. It's cheaper to just up the basic specs.
As long as I can remember being a computer user (from 286 to Amiga to Pentium 4 machines (and even the odd Apple)) there have been times when you had to wait for results. And it appears to me as if those times are still the same.
Don't I see a positive point? Well, I do. Render times are just greatly reduced, and that's good (being a 3D-CAD engineer).

I'm working on it.
Guys, have faith. I haven't lied to anyone. I haven't offered product, that hasn't arrived. I haven't taken ANYONE's money. I need the Community's support, if I'm going to pull this off. The doors with all, interested parties are open now. They're willing to listen.
I know that everyone's soured by every company related to the Amiga Brand Name, but have faith that I'm trying to do *SOMETHING*.
I really need your support on this. I'm not Corporate. I'm a member of the Community. :-(

I can't, JJ. Not yet, at least. I refuse to make promises, that I can't keep. As it stands, my actions could still fall to pieces.
But I AM try to accomplish something. It will be slow, to start, but I will say that I am working on a proposal that will get OS4 to the market with OpenGL compliance and a modern, web browser (Mozilla), stop all litigation, offer new hardware and after eight, long years FINALLY unite the entire Community.
But, in order to do this, I need the support of the Community.
I hope you understand.

Just get the word out. Let EVERY Amigan you know, current or otherwise, that Amiga still has a heartbeat. I'll take care of the rest.
If I can help in anyway let me know
You already have, Mate. Thanks for the show of support. :-)

Ahhhh, you must be loaded with $$$ :-P
Well I for one am Rooting for you all the way! Because according to ACK, it won't be till summer before that partnership would even announce something and that would lead to a nine month wait before you could even buy something.

I know....I'm working on it. That much, I'll promise.
Come along follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength
Come with me and I won't steer you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
To the light at the end of the tunnel
We gonna fight, we gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march
Through the swamp, we gonna mosh through the marsh
Take us right through the doors

@skurk
1 MHz should be enough for everyone :-)
