Well its probably 3 months since i bothered to log in. But ive been following all this closely. Its got me that mad just had to post!!!!!
With the all new law suit started i would love to gague the community but i dont know how to do it. Could someone please do a poll for who the users want to come out on top with this case.
Do you want Amiga (joke) Inc to win
Or Hyperion (At least they done something 4 the community) to win.

Hyperion...
...there the only company that seems to care about the community, Amiga Inc. or Bill rather only cares about profits. Granted Hyperion cares about profits, they have to in order to survive, but this is just REALLY freaking low for Amiga. Apparently they are very hard up for money so they got to do the only Amerikan thing and that's sue over dumb crap.
Sad!
Do the noble thing Amiga, and give up, let Hyperion take over, something!
-
Haven't they already given up? Aren't they now incorporated in Delaware?
-
I don't think it really matters. In the end, they both loose. Aros wins!
-
I think it's time for the community to shake up and do something for TEH amiga. Buy back the IPs and all {bleep} from AInc and make them open !

Will it run on my iMac G3? Or should I hold my breath untill I get hold on a couple of pre-owned Dell P4 machines?

Currently John is porting AROS to EFIKA (http://thenostromo.com/teamaros2/?number=46) so after that, porting to other PPC machines shouldn't be that difficult. As for x86, if you don't own one you want to use AROS, try dumpster diving (http://aros-exec.org/modules/xoopspoll/pollresults.php?poll_id=17).

Apparently they are very hard up for money
A lot of people have this opinion and I don't agree. Obviously Amiga Inc. has come in to substancial funding and now they're using it to assert their will. Though they've been a ghostly presence in the past, I think it's unwise to underestimate them now.
[Theory]
Hyperion signed on for a poor buyout deal. Amiga Inc executed the buy-back, but Hyperion also knows Amiga Inc has better capital now and holds out for a better deal. Amiga Inc lowers the boom.

agreed - how else could they afford to buy naming rights from a city ?

Exactly...
At least MOS is in the hands of it's developoers (I think)...

@Plaz
I wouldn't say that Amiga, Inc. necessarily has come in to a lot of money. Anyone can file a stupid lawsuit with minimal expense.
If you read the actual AmigaOne agreement carefully you come away with the distinct impression Hyperion and it's 3rd party contractors have not breached the agreement, imho. The depositions by McEwen and Moss are gross misrepresentations of the written agreement and actions of Hyperion and others. For example, the definition of 'target hardware' is clearly PPC-based, so how is releasing OS4 on the Sam PPC board in contravention of the agreement?
I think it is debateable whether Amiga, Inc. themselves breached the agreement (e.g. by not releasing a significantly new version of the classic OS w/in 6 months of OS4's release), but it seems a huge stretch to say that Hyperion has violated the '4-corners' of the original agreement; which generally precludes consideration of the foggy recollections and revisionist opportunisms of these depositions.

True, lawsuit alone is feable. But I base my thought on the total of what AmiInc has shown so far. Hockey team, India company, buy back, "secretive" Kmos, lawsuits, new website, maybe an announcment today about hardware..... what else is behind the curtain? Some things up, some things moving and that takes money. Maybe it's all another sham, but to mess with the city of Kent says their not playing around. But the end of course, I'll beleive it when I see it.

@Plaz
Yes, but I still contend there's nothing 'Inc' has done that I couldn't do myself (btw a man of modest means). Let's see shiny new dancing OS4 Amigas in major computer retailers by Xmas and then we'll be talking.
Otherwise, this is just more bluster from arrogant idiots with just enough $$$ to be dangerous but who really know nothing and can do nothing (AmigaDE anyone?) other than 'leveraging' the work of others to their own advantage.

Ralph owns MorphOS so it's in his hands. AROS is the only one where the coders have control.

What exactly have Amiga Inc done in years that would earn someones trust?
All they do is license out rights to IP at prices likely to hurt any company that gets involved with them.
-
to be honest
If they get new hardwarw ...
I forget everything
Just remember that Commodore was ugly busines machine
-
well if they license to other hardware the cat will be out of the bag, it will be running on all ppc platforms soon AND they wont be able to make money of the lame harware....
but if they license then they admit they are incompetent.....LOL.. the term is pathic. ANy judge will see right trought amiga inc's lack and inabilty to produce anything. Hyperon, is also a very naughty little outfit, waiting until a-inc folds..... but a-inc won't fold, frustration for all! Fold I tell you fold! In the end I think it will turn out the the current amiga-inc does not actualy OWN the OS. LOL
