Thanks for the advise it looks as if this is going to be just the projects i was looking for. I do have another question, i remeber from the a1200 user man. that there was an adapter avalible to alow you to connect a VGA monitor to the video port does anyone know hoe i could fabricate one of my own , or does anyone have or know of a wireing/pin diagram for a standard SVGA monitor. I am aware of the refresh rate problems with these monitors but my defunct opus monitor can run as low as 45hz and up to 60hz so it should work if i remember correctly :-o

The Amiga video port goes as low as 15KHz scan, so I really recommend a scandoubler. You can get away with using Multiscan and DblPAL monitor drivers, but it's not easy to set up and they don't work on all SVGA monitors.
