Ah. Another day, another story, another whirlwind of reactions from lots of people.
I have lost faith in Amiga Inc. many moons ago. I *do* believe in people like Jens or Dennis who at least contribute something in hardware.
I really don't care what they are doing or saying. In Holland we have a saying "geen woorden maar daden", which means roughly "no words, but deeds".
They should stop talking and start acting. Or stop doing business at all.
-
New expression for you all:-
"Deja Moo!" - The feeling you've seen/heard all this Bulls**t before!
-
They're taking some serious lumps in that news article and public forum. Really it's sad to see some of the comments layied upon the name Amiga, but not surprising. Folks in Kent don't seems to be in the mood for failed promises. AmiInc better have a flawless plan this time, or I wouldn't want to be in there shoes.

Pretty scary, seeing all that shady stuff summed up in one place. And I mean real court document stuff. Who in their right mind would do business with these people? For me personally the saddest thing is the way they are soiling the Amiga name with their actions (tax evasion, not paying people's wages, setting up a new entity in a different state to avoid having to comply with court orders, etc.) Really, really sad.
-
I have to say that I avoided MooBunny so far and topics like this which it seems like that was a good idea.
All I ever wanted was to get some hardware and run AmigaOS4 because I enjoy using the OS. I have a microA1 with OS4 and use it regularly, dabbling in some programming for it which is also enjoyable, but the more I see all of this embarassing stuff going on in public, it seems the Amiga name really is just a joke and it isn't going to go anywhere. Not that I didn't see this coming, but I really wanted to be part of the new OS and see if it could be moved forward. With what I see from Hyperion, things look pretty good.
Nothing new being stated here. It's just a shame this supposed 'community' has come down to this. I really hope Amiga Inc don't blow this sponsorship spectacularly because to get bad press for something like that (which could spread fairly widely mainstream in the US) would be the final nail.
Just a bit depressed about this stuff. Time to move on but I'm keeping the A1 as I still love using AmigaOS, it's just awful seeing such opportunities squandered, basically from 1985 on.
Normal service will now resume.

I found this link interesting in that apparently someone who knew nothing about Amigas came to the conclusion from some research that Amiga Inc. is a shady business.
Anyone who thinks after this that Amiga Inc. will be a saviour to Amiga computing has to think twice.
Businesses rely on goodwill and capital, and obviously Amiga Inc. struggles to garner either based on the reputation they have developed and the negative information out there.
It's a real shame.
-
Now im just getting irritated. Amiga Inc. ever since Bill's reign is a JOKE.
I am glad the person that didnt know anything about amiga found out what was up, and it didnt take him long to realize how much of a screwup Amiga is. And also, who would want their center to be called Amiga lol.
Commodore 64 bangs amiga anyways. Much funner to BBS on petscii graphics then having to deal with Amiga now.
-
@Plaz
Really it's sad to see some of the comments layied upon the name Amiga, but not surprising. Folks in Kent don't seems to be in the mood for failed promises.
In the States there isn't much value attached to the Amiga brand-name IMHO. Amiga was never really famous in the US, while things were very different in major parts of Europe.
Maybe a small amount of people will remember it as "some game computer", but the rest will probably think something like "George" on the forum linked above (maybe less drastic though):

the truth comes out eventually. glad it did. thats the same info I sent to a few folks @ corporate & the city. (kinda the same..didnt send moobunny links etc).. interesting reading material to say the least.
-
LMAO!! This image popped up in the Random Photo box when I was reading this thread. You think it's the start of construction of the Kent event centre?

We all knew it was coming. A company that keeps a name
and don't do anything with it for so long can't be much
more than a joke. They were not interested in the Amiga
OS in the first place, and when they suddenly became
interested they create a licencing scheme that makes it
impossible to find a suitable hardware.
And finally when "the grassroots" work their asses off and
comes up with atleast some hardware namely SAM then Amiga
Inc. declines them a licence.
Acube teams up with Hyperion and Amiga's next move is to
quickly team up with another party so that they can steal
the show.
-"pleased to announce that new hardware is on its way for Amiga users." said MCBill
Oh yes what an effort you made there, I am astonished
that Acube and Hyperion is capable of being this silent
after this announcement of an announcement.

It's not as the community invented this hate just by itself
really. Credits goes right back to Amiga Inc. And what are
they going to show at the Amiga Centre. Cell phone games ?
We will be a even bigger laughing stock after Amiga brings
attention to themselves via the Amiga Centre. They have nothing to show it's just words.
Just a bit depressed about this stuff. Time to move on but I'm keeping the A1 as I still love using AmigaOS, it's just awful seeing such opportunities squandered, basically from 1985 on.

Atleast we have AROS.
-
jesus christ!
people in Kent must now think everyone who ever used an Amiga is some bitter, troublmaking child with nothing better to do that go on sites all over the world and spew forth more venom!
how childish and stupid!
this is Certainly NOT the proper way to convey information.
I'm just disgusted. :madashell:
-
@Garrett
Looks like Amiga freaks have found yet another online forum to continue their discussions about Amiga Inc on. Using MooBunny as a source of information is just stupid IMHO. Discussions there are often filled with swearing and generally come across as ravings of the immature. Not something that you'd use to make business decisions.

This is truely the saddest, lowest state I have seen the "official/corporate" version of Amiga in for a long time.
On the other hand, it does feel good to finally see someone outside the Amiga community expose the crap like "worlds premier provider of multi-media..." and "third most recognized brand in Europe" and blow the whole thing wide open. Hopefully this will make it into the local Kent newspaper (has anyone forwarded links/info to it yet?).
I do agree though that the links to MooBunny on that forum along with the petty & poorly spelled arguments about hardware, etc. are making Amigans look pretty pathetic to the general public.
-
Some of you guys really are wierd. Why do you have to hunt down every item you can find about Amiga from all around the world and then post the same comments you do on about 4 different Amiga sites? No wonder you get called crackpots!
-
What's wrong with the truth. Do you wish that
the people of Kent get's tricked into building this
centre and when money runs out for Amiga Inc they
stand there with a half built building. How come
Amiga Inc is suddenly so reliable? What have they
delivered of use all these years?
-
Oh dear gods, the gates of the underworld have opened. Moobunny is flooding over to other non-Amiga sites , the end is upon us :nervous:

I echo that sentiment. The name was good for a personal computer. It sounds a bit silly for an event center.
This is truly an interesting story IMO. I'm curious to see how the city of Kent deals with the feedback.

Did the users say something wrong? They are only telling the true about a very strange company...

so this is all we have left eh....

No question Amiga Inc. made mistakes. But for people to hate with such passion... actively stalking them, badmouthing them at every junction... I often find myself wondering if some of these people are mentally ill. They are certainly not doing these things out of the goodness of their hearts, to help Bolton Peck or the apparantly soon to be doomed city of Kent. There are proper ways to deal with injustice. If these proper ways don't work, your issue is with the system.
I guess, in the end, Amiga Inc's unfortunate history is being used for all it is worth by people with an agenda. Will the war ever end???
Anyways. OS4 is here. Several hardware projects "almost finished". (Relatively) high profile ports on their way. Things could be worse, after all.

"not a Mexican Whorehouse" made me chuckle... although all in all it's pretty sad, I agree. I wonder what the next months will bring now.

That would be hilarious if it wasn't true. I tried to laugh but I got a stabing pain at the same time.

I doubt it. Seven years ago... (http://www.ann.lu/comments2.cgi?show=0967100848&category=rant&number=10#comment)
Yet there seem to be some anti-Amiga campaign going on here, where the aim is to twist and turn every thing Amiga say and do to put them in a bad light. Not surprisingly QNX fanatics are involved.
QNX-fanatics. LOL! Different times, different scapegoats. ;-)

I for one think that the city of Kent should have been left to find out how bad AInc. is on their own. Sure, the city of Kent would have been ripped off, but the repercussions would have been huge.
-

Yeah. In my IT office located here in the south eastern US, the topic of Amiga is just a running gag. Media attention like this can only bring more respect though right?
BTW, I direct attention to a comment I made about 5 days ago concerning digging up old information and the consequences....

Argggh! Searchengines... toys of the devil. There was a context to that, though. No surprise involving certain MooBunny entities. QNX fanatics for sure. But thats about all I remember and in contrary to certain nosey busybodies I have no urge to revisit the past.

Nah. Nobody here would condone any sort of stalking, personal attacks/harassment or otherwise obsessive behavior. I don't know who would even consider taking them that seriously.
On the other hand, I'm sure many feel a bit let down by years of empty promises and the ridiculous "press release" nonsense. In that regard, A-Inc has made their own bed. Common sense and human nature dictate that people are going to poke fun at their expense.

LOL ! That was priceless Humppa.
I wonder when people will open their eyes. Maybe when
Hyperion and Acube looses the opportunity to release
OS4 on SAM thanks to the INC company ?
Oh, my God now I'm FUD:ing again. But think about it
it isn't that unlikely is it ?

After reading a lot of the threads on AInc it is not too surprising a lot of people are so active in their condemnation of such a colourfull company!!The Media Centre affair is very strange and a sitting target for justifiable concern especially with AInc's previous history. The choice of hardware and it's production and pricing also appears to be of concern after reading the threads. What sort of guarantees real or imagined are going to be offered in the light of the previous hardware and the bad experiences suffered by customers. How will the outstanding issues from that time be resolved.Personally I'll wait and see what happens if at all this time around.I will not buy the new hardware untill I've heard prolonged positive feedback about any future hardware. The last nail in the coffin would be another fiasco like the last time.

I am not a fanatic, I have my PC with WinXP, I use a laptop with Linux Ubuntu, I have an A4000 PPC, A1200 060 and so on... really nice hardware that is working together without a problem.
But I made a cut after the OS3.9 release, which came from people that have done something for the community, not like AInc.
If OS3.9 as axample would be a AInc. project, we would have only hot air until yet.
I am not stalking BillMcEwen, but I am bashing AInc. and telling the true were I can. Take a look what they have done with the Amiga, they have had their chance -> over years only hot and hotter air...
If BillMcEwen would be a good manager, he would work with people out of the community together. People like me that made projects in the classic community, that understand the amiga and the needs, people like Jens S. and so on... but he is just blaming me not respecting HIS IPs. I am laughing about his IPs, ok he may paid some for this IPs, but the work was never done from him!!!
The work was done from real amiga developers in the whole world, not only from one shady company producing only hot air...
May BillMcEwen should do what he can, driving trucks...

...almost finished! That is what I hear since the last 2 years.

jorkany wrote:

Do you mean repercussion or reputation... in both cases AInc. has no product to show, it is only just a name without a community. Only a bad homepage that most of us can do better and very much hot air and some air castles too.

It's obvious that it isn't them.
Or is Amiga Inc. now operating from the former Commodore warehouse in Braunschweig again? Link (http://merlanciausa.com/global/) Link (http://www.merlancia.us/merintl.jpg)

who really knows where they are operating from. anyway beyond the germany tag there was nothing obvious though i had my suspicians otherwise i wouldn't have put this in my post.
well this is funny but is this really them?
though i gotta remember to use smileys more often since sarcasm don't come across well. :-)

@jkirk
Never mind, at least I got a new conspiracy theory out of this. Bill McEwen have joined forces with Ryan Czerwinski. Both are now operating from the old Commodore warehouse in Braunschweig.
:eureka:
Maybe I should call Rich Woods to do some investigation on it. :inquisitive:

lol  go for it.
