Title: WTB: Amiga 4000 motherboard
Post by: doctorq on April 17, 2007, 07:35:27 PM
Has anyone got a fully working spare Amiga 4000 motherboard they would like to sell??

The last Amiga 4000 I purchased was unfortunately a dead one, so I need a replacement motherboard for it.

If anyone has one, email me at doctorq@tiscali.dk.

Any clue to what's wrong with the one you have, or did I miss that thread?

Davs, doctorq

I have one spare, but I haven't decided wether I should sell it or not yet.  It has a buster rev9 but no daughterboard.  I also have a spare 68030/25 for it.

It was part of a hardware lot I bought a little while ago.  I haven't had the chance to test it, but the seller assured me it's functional.  Everything else I bought worked fine.

I actually had plans to towerize it, but I never seem to get the time to do so.  It's always on my todo-list.  So far, it's been nothing but a good conversation subject.  he-he...

So, PM me a bid and I'll consider it. :-)

@Plaz

No clue. It was bought through ebay, with the seller stating that it was fully working and without battery leakage. When the computer finally arrived, the computer didn't boot and had signs of battery leakage. All I know is that if I remove the chip memory from the motherboard, it gives me a green screen, otherwise it just gives a black screen. Haven't bothered yet to check with other kickstarts, PSUs, etc.

@skurk

I need one that is known to be fully working and in good condition, as I won't throw away money for yet another motherboard that might turn out to be not working. Therefore I won't send you a bid on PM. The thing I need the motherboard for is in fact a tower conversion, so we are in the same boat there :-)

No problem, mate.

That said, I know the seller in person and trust him, so I'm confident it works.  I must admit I do have that little voice in my head that says "hang on, what if your own A4000 hangs up one day, then what?", making me want to keep it for myself.

Which I probably will.

..Or won't.  Aargh!

But on the serious side, let me know if you have no luck locating one.  I can't leave a fellow amigan behind.  I can always power it up and make sure it works.

@doctorq

Hey, have you tried software hut? I checked about a month or two ago and they had some refurbed boards for 250.00 I think. I can't find the email I got back from them I probably deleted it.

It's not like I'm without an Amiga; I just want to put an accelerator, graphics-, ethernet-, sound-, and video digitizercard into use.

If you fire it up, and can confirm everything works, then let me know as we might be able to work something out. If it doesn't, it's of no use, as it will just increase my pile of defective motherboards.

Hey doctorq :)

Would you send me a few of those defective boards if I paid postage? (I'm in the UK)

It'll give me something to either try and fix or decorate the office with :)

Well if you can't find a replacement and if you were located in the US, I'd say let me have a look at the bad one for you. If you're overseas from here, then it may not be worth the shipping.

A final :bump:

@Plaz

Thanks for the offer, it might be worth the shipping if I end up with two non-working boards as I have now. I'll let you know as soon as possible.

@jimbo100

Send me a PM with your asking price in case you decide to sell the motherboard.
