I've just seen this on Ebay with 5 hours left...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Amiga-4000-Desktop-A4000-A4000D-AGA-Commodore-Vintage_W0QQitemZ180105594643QQihZ008QQcategoryZ4598QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItem
So tempted, the price is unreal too!! A little over £45 I think (memory has gone!!)
Shame about the postage charge mind :-( Would it be worth it??
-
With that kind of battery leakage, I wouldn't. It will give you problems eventually.
-
Good luck,
around £45 for postage too.

Really wanting an Amiga 4000 and cant find one anywhere :-(
Got an Ad on Amibench, so hopefully, something might pop up sooner or later...
Thanks for the help there :-)
-
beside the shipping being way to high, I don't think the battery is an issue. Sounds like you could jsut put a new one in and be done. 4000's end up being expensive.
-
You've already got an A1200, so why on Earth do you need an A4000? The only things I can think of is that the graphics cards are a little cheaper for the A4000 than the A1200 and the Video Toaster 4000 is useful for video editing.
For anything faster, you'd be better off with either a Pegasos 2 or a non-classic AmigaOS 4-capable system that is yet to come out such as the SAM440EP (http://www.sam440.com/eng/index.html).
-
maybe he likes the classic 4000 look and feel. LOL. they are cool, but do yo urealy need one?
-
Dare I ask how much one of those would be??
-
I dont really need it, I suppose its just a case of wanting one..
Never owned a A4000 and always wanted to see what they are like for myself. Only 1 of my friends had an Amiga and that was a A1200 like me.
I've got two Dual Core CPU's that I'm sat inbetween of.. One is my server with over 1.5 terabytes of storage and the other is my gaming rig with a 3.6ghz Conroe CPU with 4Gb of ram...
No I dont need it, retro feeling has come back to me tho... :-)

The SAM440EP will be a lot cheaper than a Cyberstorm PPC accelerator card not to mention you won't need an A4000 to plug it into.

Have you checked the picture of the battery area??
