Title: Ebay Buyer Beware!
Post by: drewz21 on April 16, 2007, 01:59:46 PM
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this auction.

http://cgi.ebay.com/GVP-A530-40Mhz-4MB-Fast-Ram-240MB-for-Amiga-500_W0QQitemZ200100045875QQihZ010QQcategoryZ4598QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This is the same item I won here.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=200099517810&rd=1&rd=1

I now have open claims with PayPal and Ebay as I don't have the item or my money.

Gotta watch out for people like this even when they may have something we want. :madashell:

the seller could at least wait for the situation to clear for the previous high bidder, he says on the 1st post he payed (~260$ !!!!) for the A530....

Both the seller and the buyer have a signle negative feedback... the one they gave each other.

True enough, the seller should have waited for a resolution before auctioning again.

Nonetheless, the consequences are clearly felt on the pricing of this auction...

This is most of my point for posting this.

@whiteb  I am aware of this "disclaimer" he posted in the reposted auction but I could send you some e-mail and Ebay messaging comments that would give you a bigger picture.

People are allowed to do what they want but as I'm out $275 right now I was trying to help others in our small community hopefully avoid being scammed by this individual.  My Ebay rating was 100% positive until I had to deal with him.  But I don't think I can do anything about that at this point.

He said he was refunding you.

Did you see any of that money sent back to you?

No I have not.  He claims PayPal has my money and not him.  All I know is that my PayPal account shows a payment sent to him for $275 and nothing has come back.  I'm pursuing everything through Ebay and PayPal right now so we'll see how that goes.

In my last correspondence with him he has now resorted to hurling profanities at me and name-calling.

I believe situations like this are why some people are leery of using Ebay.

If you guys get things cleared up, and if you both agree to cancel feedback it can be done.

Wow!  Either Ebay acted fast or he closed his account.  Amazing!  I just hope I get my money back from this.

This why I refuse to use eBay! I find what I need on Graigslist or here (and even at our local Goodwill store!!).

This Friday the 13th sucked big time...

I hope you get your money back Drewz, and also, pressure eBay to have the neg. removed (and tell us if they did). You don't deserve it. He's the one that fscked up and has disappeared.

Good luck.

So far I'm pleased with what Ebay and PayPal are doing.  I actually called PayPal and spoke with someone on the phone and got some good reassurance.  My case is in the Review stage and I should know something pretty soon.  I have mentioned to Ebay support about getting the negative removed but have not heard back from them yet.

Great job on handling this transaction gone to heck...I've had great luck with EBay and PayPal.  They've always handled problems well.  Maybe not as fast as I would have liked...but it all worked out.

Heck...I would have bid on that drive!!  Nice...
