Note - my mentality/play style is to play games "slow but sure"; making sure if I got somewhere in the game once, I could do it again and again. Although I found it exciting to get somewhere in a game by luck/skill, I wasn't comfortable with it. Also, I wanted to get and keep the best stuff in the game, and not use it up in case I'd be stuck later. This attitude was the main factor for me deciding if a game was "good" or not.
Assassin (Special Edition) - Great graphics, good challenge and scoring system, big levels with lots of exploring to do
Frontier - I spent a long time on this game, though I was never too good at it. My afore-mentioned attitude meant I always worked my way up to the Panther Clipper then hoarded money and the best equipment and crew. I never got anywhere with the military/spy missions
Chaos Engine - Excellent, but I wasn't too good at it. I always tried to kill all the enemies... maybe I should have tried running more?
Alien Breed - Same as Chaos Engine! But harder. I seem to remember the aliens being that fast that there weren't many opportunities to run safely?
Jurassic Park - The raptor bits really, really scared me.
Oscar - We got this with the 1200. Very well produced game, though the gameplay itself was lacking
Space Hulk - An excellent game spoilt by my attitude. I couldn't get anywhere because I always tried to find map points where I could position my marines then forget about them. Then again... I seem to remember hunting online, and not being able to find any guides, FAQs, or in fact any indication that anyone had ever got far in this game?
Desert Strike - The title music = win. I remember the name of the guy who made it... Jason A.S. Whitely I think. He also did music for Space Hulk.
-
Other ones -
Wing Commander - This game just rocked. Its only fault was them damn asteroid belts. I'm sure they were just random, and there was no skill to getting through them 100%.
Syndicate - This game was simply WIN. WIN WIN WIN!
Cannon Fodder - Excellent until I got stuck. Then it sucked.
Lemmings 2 - Well, it's Lemmings, obviously! But things I loved particularly were the smart level designs (sometimes there were just random ledges and walls, sometimes there was a lateral path through the level) and the practice mode which was basically a "sand box" mode.
Hired Guns - I never got too far in this, but the moody mix of characters; weapons; levels and enemies made this game cool to school-boy me.
Space Quest 4 - I hated this game. Long loading times, and the traditional fun of a point-and-click game ruined by death and wandering monsters. But if there were zero loading times, then death wouldn't matter so much and the game would probably have been excellent. Pretty smart puzzles, great ideas for settings, and loads of extras.
Dreamweb - God turns a down-and-out into a complete psycho, in order to assassinate 7 would-be satans. A brilliant adventure game. Included action scenes where you had to perform actions before a bad-guy did; and riddles that required the included "mad man's diary" to solve. As well as being an awesome idea (cross-referencing a bonus novelette with the game), this acted as pretty sneaky and effective copy protection

The Bard's Tale series was one of my favourites, as cheesy as they were.
I also liked Stunt Car 3D.
Wings took a lot of my time too.
-
Drakkhen, Might & Magic (all), and Wizardry took a LOT of my time!

I use to go around the asteroid belts
:-P

Yeah I remember spending ages flying around them!
But that was boring. Plus I think there may have been missions where a waypoint was inside the asteroid field?
Did you ever complete the game fully?
I remember getting the good ending, but I ejected on the last 2 missions :p
The last mission mentioned some mad Kilrathi base or capital ship or something... I always wanted to see that

Lemmings 1/2
Cannon Fodder
Nebulus
Video Kid
Oscar
Kid Gloves
Super Stardust
Worms DC
and more recently, T-Zer0 :-)

Yes i think there where missions where waypoints was inside a asteroid field, but if i could go around them then i always did. No i did not complete the game but i was very close to the end.
I remember playing it on my A500 and it was a very painfull experience when the screen was full of enemy ships and the game did get very very slow...
