You know how people use the link function and put in the entire URL for both the URL part and the website title part and we end up with twenty mile long URL's that cheese with the layout? Is there a way to put in a checker to check(er) if the title and URL are the same and then complain to the user that he's about to put in a (possibly) long URL and to suggest that he not do that?
Might also be helpful if the forum software doesn't automatically linkify "http://" stuff that wasn't entered using the link tags. That way people would complain at the poster that his links don't link and since they're twenty miles long anyway, he'll be chastized by the link tag creator function when he goes in to make the links work.
While I'm at it, autiomatically detecting email addresses and making them into a mailto: is lame, as well, since most times, you have a weird link in the middle of a post that wasn't an email address in the first place.

I don't disagree with any of this, but if you'd like to grab a copy of Xoops, I'll be more than happy to integrate whatever code changes you guys might like to write.

Or, better yet, we can shun all long URLers into oblivion. It's fun, and less work (for me), too. ;-)

I like the idea.
Isnt it possible to set a maximum character length into the input field?
Maybe that way it can be set to something like 35 characters max. :-)
