I did 3 more icons ImageFX,Yam,Frogger ... gimme your opinons and what the next 3 should be... I'm aiming to do about 3 a day or so...
Icons here (http://amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=300)

Well, once again, as images I think they're really nice, but I still prefer icons to have a common theme instead of just being random images...
-
there is a common theme... they all rock :P ... but seriousely... MorphOS is about choice... people can choose whatever icons they want... I'll make a whole bunch and some may use of them then thats great...if not?... ohh well... I'm not interested in changing the style of the icons now... I'm going to go ahead and create the detailed set in a detailed way... MOS has great Icons as-is... but I'm going to try to suppliment that...not make Wintendo crapicons for MOS and try to make it into something its not...
-
Hold your fire. :-) These sure rock. Marvellous.
As to icon sets - there are thousands out there, for MacOS, XP, KDE, etc. Even for MorphOS you get a few consistent icon sets - then you can decide which one to use.
What we need is: icons for the few Amiga/MOS only applications, which are not that common.
Having them in the most common themes is another good idea, but hey, we're talking of one man's attempt - and it's not bad at all!
So I say, come on, I like your icons very much!
-
Hey! He asked for opinions, I gave it. They are really nice, but I wouldn't use them.
-
The YAM icon IMO perfectly fits into my MacOSX icon set I use on MOS.
-
and Warface thats precisely the idea... I want to make a set to fill holes and give people ideas more then to be a set of its own... I will extend it over time and perhaps choose a theme and redo some of them (most of the icons are 3D renderd in Lightwave with some light touch ups in Aura(TVPaint) 2.5b)... but if anyone wants the Icons they are free... I'll post what I have done now wherever I can get some hosting and link it... as Morphicons.zip in a little while... you can grab them all see wich ones ya like...see what ya dont like... its all for the fun of it... if anyone wants the .PSD or .Aur if you prefer files to modify and mess with them let me know and I'll post them to (though not all since some are pretty damn hefty)
-
I would use them...it's nice to have continuity
between "general" icons (like drawers) but I
prefer to customize the other icons here and
there...and create more of a individual
'overall' theme. Complete themed sets can look
too manufactured at times, in my opinion.
-
all icons when zipped are 1.10MB ... if anyone wants to host them there wont be more then 600 downloads world wide :) heh... if you would just like to host a specific set e.g the 128x128 set it's smaller only 768KB ... let me know if anyone wants them I'll DCC to ya over on IRC at Arcnet channel #Morphzone :)

Positive things:
1. Bright colours
2. attractive
3. well designed
Negative things:
1. Too big to be used by me on my desktop, it would make the display look cluttered.
2. After image reduction are these going to look so nice or are items ( like the frog eyes ) going to look disproportionate?
3. They look like images from elsewhere even though they aren't - the instantly familiar look has that double edged sword to it. Instead of thinking "ah yes thats the icon for" you think "where have I seen that before?"
-
well I made these origially 128x128 as I said... I then shrunk them...some say the smaller ones e.g the 32x32 look blurry...that is inevitable since they where shrunk so much...alot of MOS Icons started off rather small...the 64x64's look fine...if you want to try your own crunching techniques you can have the 128x128's and try with them... I'm sure if you used a better scaleing engine then I did you could get better results... but since I couldnt save transperant PNG's properly within Aura I had to use Photoshop to scale..wich of course sucks.. :(
they look familier from elseware because to be honest its hard to invent a style...if something looks good... its hard to get the idea out of your head when working on things... I didnt directly copy anything else... but it shows the style's I like...
-
Also I run very high res here 1600x1200... and I'm a selfish bast3rd as you already know... I'm gonna use my Icons :) and I didnt want to have to look at the small ones like I do in Windows... hehehehehe

DaveP that gives you an idea of what the disparity is...and also what the icons look like in smaller sizes... I consider them acceptable..
-
Just my 2 pence-worth...
Can the YAM icon, not have the word 'cents' on it? Make it less US-Centric ?
Cheers,
-Jar.
-
The small set gets the thumbs up from me and would definately be a theme I would install.
-

sure thing... I didnt know we where the only ones useing 'cents' :) ... forgive my ignorance on that one... what would you prefer it say?... or would you prefer nothing?... I'm open to making differant versions it dosent take much time... and this is an effort to benefit the 'community' as a whole... thats why I'm all for giving away the .PSD's and letting anyone else who wants to work on them take a shot at it...
French version gets first dibs next to english though :P ... its only fitting ;)
-
100th of a Euro is now also called "cents", so its not just the states any more. Us brits use pounds and pence.
-
-
you can use them wherever you can make them work...their .PNG images ... use with freedom yee amigans...
my gift to the community... some of the icons will be MOS oriented because thats my system of choice...and right now primary target audience ... since MOS is able to test them out (thanks Targhan) to see they work right... but by all means ... get some hosting... and I'll start uploading them... you guys can download/convert/change/whatever... I just like seeing some use come of them... if AROS wants them I'd be glad to clean them up a bit and donate them to AROS... (I doubt their pro enough for that though ;P )
-
So you haven't got a copy of MorphOS yet?
Apparently Gunne has some Pegasos 1s left so maybe you can get one.
-
sadly what happend for me was I was going to buy a Pegasos (in fact placed an order) but had to cancel out due to hard financial times (lost a gig I had for a interior design company doing a site) by the time I got that straightend out...there where no pegs left and I wasnt exactly in a situation to spend 1000 on a Pegasos (600 for the board+at least 400 in other parts)... so I'm waiting for Peg2 ... should be able to recycle some parts from other rigs I got the piece it together...
-
Ah well, heres hoping you get one in September then.
Honestly! :-)
-
;-) Pretty good work there, Mips. I'm impressed.
-
very nice, indeed!
-
Mips, why worry about hosting? That is what aminet is for! Use the Paderborne mirror, make a readme that follows the aminet guidelines, copy the lha file and the .readme to aminet/pub/aminet/new/ couldn't be simpler! If you have problems look for me on IRC. However, I'm betting half the people you find in any amiga/mos channel know about uploading to the aminet!

I hear that. Thing is, I use 1600x1200 with standard OS3.5 :-) / Winbloat 2K. But then my monitor has a 18" viewable diagonal ;-)
