We've got no time to lose
Your news is old news
Hate this, hate me, hate this
Right approach for the wrong
It's time to spread the word
Let the voice be heard
All of us, one of us, all of us
Dominate and take the motherfucking world
Mass prediction, unification
Breathing life into out lungs
EVERY creed and EVERY kind
To give us depth for strength
Taught when we're young to hate one another
It's time to have a new reign of power
Make pride universal so no one gives in
Turn our backs on those who oppose
Then when confronted we ask them the question
That's wrong with their mind?
What's wrong with your mind?
(Chorus) It's time to RISE
We've lived with past mistakes
And we've lived with our own
Forgive, forget forgive
Be a man, not a child
There are to tears for peace
Of the common sympathies
Educate, reinstate, educate
A thing of past
The trouble in the states
It's time to rise
Look at these lyrics and tell me you don't agree.

I don't agree.

Phil Anselmo's actually a very proud American, and among the first you'd expect to knee-jerk at the C-word. However, he's also equipped with a brain and understands that you can sing about unity and change for the better from pretty much any political perspective.
Aside from yours, which seems to be not so much right wing as anti-humanity.
-
I couldn't give a rat's arse if he's a communist or not.
Pantera made some great tunes, but Phil's lost the plot in recent years.

i don't agree.
-
what if he's a communist ?
-
Actully, Pantera is one of the metal bands considered to be racist rednecks, along with slayer and Morbid Angel.
Rick Mithiasin, the lead singer of the metal band Steel Prophet spent a few nights with Pantera in '88, as their lead singer. He said, he left because he couldn't stand their racism and then they got Phil Anselmo.
Anti-black, anti-gay and anti-immigrant racism (typical hate-blend for southern U.S Rock and Country singers/bands) don't get along with the communist ideals, well.

Well i dont believe that they`re anti black, gay, racist whatever..The media just stir things up,its easy to accuse a white bald man with tattos of being racist...
More to the point if they were racist why would they even consider playing infront of fans in japan??not to mention when he(Phil Anselmo) offended some black girl in the crowd about something he had said he actually wrote her a letter apologizing for it...
Anyways that is always an argument and all you need to do is look on the Pantera home video dvds and you see a black guy in the back with them..
Oh yeah but about the song "rise" i believe he does talk about the meaning behind that song here in this interview.

THANKS for that video, dude!
Wow, they're probably different than I thought.
In the battle between what people say about others, and what I observe of others, my observations win out any time!

Communist? :roflmao:
I don't think so (http://www.youtube.com/watch?search=&mode=related&v=5iQZEBBg7hE)

Communist? Where do you get that from? What's your notion of communism anyway? I know we're not supposed to sledge and troll here, but the way you speak of communism just sounds like you're still swayed by 1950's propaganda.
