Hi,

Does anyone have a trapdoor memory expansion kit for an Amiga A600 for sale?

Thanks

Yo WotTheFook,

I don't sell mine, but I've also been looking for one lately as the RTC battery's dead...

http://www.elbox.com

Should you not know them, they sell shiny, factory-new trap-door mem expansion for A600's, but boy it's sorta expensive. You also might find one from time to time on eBay.

Good luck!

Edit: you also have http://www.vesalia.de who sell nice Amiga hardware... again, in case you didn't know them  :-)

Peter,

Why don't you just change the RTC battery to your's? All you need is a soldering iron and a replacement battery (I'm assuming that the battery isn't the coin type that some memory expansions got).

I myself replaced the old battery with the coin type and a diode to prevent the expansion card from charging it. Works great!

Doesn't AmigaKit have a brand new A600 expansion too?

You mean the A602 by Individual Computers (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=533)  :-)

Protek:

I'd very much like to do that! I just couldn't dare desoldering the shielding of my very old A601 without a little advice.

So let's suppose I do desolder it... what am I to do next?

I don't understand: you say the battery is not the coin-type and then you say you replaced it by a coin-type one... how could it fit?

Actually I also have 2 A500's which would both need the same operation... could you help me with these three? Where do I get the batteries? How do I do this exactly?

Thanks!

The modification is called lithbatt.lha or something similar and it's available on www.aminet.net/  It involves a coin-type battery holder and a simple diode available at any electronics store.  It's really simple.

You really should unsolder the metal shielding on those old 601 and 501 ram expansion cards because if they have the barrel shaped NiCd batteries they will leak eventually and destroy the boards.
