No hack is needed, WB 3.1 works on roms 3.0 just fine.

Various:

- Softkickers (I don't wanna talk about all here);

Or just put it over 3.0 machine, but be warned: is no good do this. If you have a devalidation issue, the Amiga will be not able to repair the RDB (FFS user only).

Same problem with updated FFS versions or patchs.

If you use SFS, PFS (1,2 or 3) or other file system, go ahead.

Huh?

- RDB has absolutely nothing to do with filesystem validation.
- Kickstart 3.0 FFS validation is identical to 3.1 one.

Are you sure, Piru?

- RDB is the holder of the filesystems, so it does ;-)
- validation are the same on both? I always know the other hand.

If you are right, them putting OS3.1 over KS3.0 can be done without any problem.

Kickstart 3.1 contains lots of bugfixes.  That's its primary advantage over Kickstart 3.0 .  The fact that Workbenches 3.5 and 3.9 patch the Kickstart quite heavily makes a difference as well (if you ever want to upgrade).

Hmm lets see...

Yes.

RDB is the holder of the filesystems, so it does

When filesystem is invalidated, it has nothing to do with RDB. RDB isn't invalid, thus it doesn't need to be repaired.

If RDB would get trashed, the checksum would be invalid and the partition(s) and/or filesystems(s) would not load in the first place. There's no validator for RDB in the system.
