I just recently noticed, that EOB I and II AGA version is "relased" by CFOU. Downloaded and amazed. Its really rocks, but of course there is a lot of bug.
-
Yep very nice!!
-
So I make a post about a BBS and in five minutes I get people telling me to take my "illegal activities" elsewhere.
Yet here we have a guy who breaks the EULA from two PC softwares by decompiling the packages to rip the resource files, in order to use them without permission in another software. And then goes on about breaking two more EULA on Amiga by hacking new resources in old softwares.
And this is ok?
-
COOOOOOOOOOOOL!
EOTB is better than oblivion!!
-
I guess this explains the appearance of this (http://www.os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=utility/archive/uncps.lha) tool?
-
Magyarorszag a leg szeb.
-
they have been released for some time now, both INCLUDE automap! feature and are available as stand-alone OS-compliant programs or WHDLOAD slaves
@James :
u know nothing of "that guy" .
you are like ants in the pic-nic ... go bark elsewhere!
-
I know very well who Bertrand is, and I know of his work for the community as I wholly support it. But that wasn't my point at all. If you're gonna declare trading of old dead software "illegal", then logic implies that violating the EULAs of these softwares should be treated the same way. That is all I was saying. If you feel I've attacked someone in any way, that wasn't my intention at all. No need to become impolite either.
-
Does anyone know if it uses the same game system as the original Amiga version?
I played through EOB1 on Amiga (the spider levels were terrible!), and I would love to continue with the same party in EOB2 AGA.
Also.. Does anyone know of any savegame converter which would allow me to use the same party even in EOB3 on the pc?
I bought the whole collection on pc some years ago.
-
@James: Maybe the truth, oops law is in your side, but are you then give me free technical support for a 15 years brain dead software for me? Because westwood can't. All the people Who wan't to buy EOB series for amiga is paid already for them in the past 15 years.
@madsjm: I think it uses the original, because afaik only the pictures/anims converted to 256 colour, and some code to reflect it, but not the game data.
-
@mikrucio: Igen Az!
-
@madsjm:
I know that question was answered somewhere in the following links:
http://members.tripod.com/~stanislavs/games/eob1.htm
http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/file/eye_of_the_beholder_b.txt
http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/file/eye_of_the_beholder.txt (search for EOB2)
http://eager.back2roots.org/CHEAT/e/eyebeh.htm (currently down)
EOB was lotsa fun!
Any experts here that can clarify something for me? I used to think that in EOB1 the monsters would not respawn, but were finite. But I replayed it recently (the PC version) and they respawned after a minute or so. What gives? Was it supposed to be so? I thought it was only EOB2 that had respawns.. Thanks
Forgot to add: the AGA-hack of these games is a VERY cool deed indeed! It's a bit reverse-engineering and stuff, but it's not really THAT bad, because if you think about it, it really only ADDS to the longevity of the game, it doesn't make it "easily distributed" (aka: cracking). So yeah, I think Westwood (or whatever they've become) should give those guys a job :-)

@James
You were talking about adding T[XXX]C archives to your BBS. These archives include thousands of games (15GB, >10000 files) and applications (>3000 apps).
While this thread doesn't specify download link to the EOB AGA I have no problem with it.
However, it could be possible to require the original game and datafiles to be able to install the "AGA version". This way it would be perfectly legal IMO.
I see a small difference in what you were going to do, and what these guys are doing.
PS. EULAs are not legally binding in many countries.
-
@da9000:
I get a 404 for the gamefaq pages.. It seems it doesn't allow direct linking, and I can't find the documents using the search function.
-
@madkjsm:
Freagging {bleep}s! I hate those sites!
Ok, here's what a quick search for EOB2 got me:
Sergio's Team
warrior, Keirgar, mage, Tyrra, cleric/thief, Ileria.
Explanation: well balanced team. Two warriors, with an arrow shooter and a
dagger thrower/spell caster, and two backup girls ^-^. Keirgar is simply the
best warrior in this game, Tyrra is a great Ranger, and Ileria... I've let her
join only because she is the only Cleric in this game (except your starting
party) - her stats are AWFUL (10 Wisdom!!!), but it's better than nothing. Why
Cleric/Thief? Thief is helpfull in EOB2, if you want to use your characters
from EOB of course.
And something useful from Steve (regninf2@aol.com):
Additionally, those planning on using their EOB1 characters for EOB2, might
want to make sure they have all extra equipment items with the 4 characters
they can/want to transfer. An extra cleric holy symbol is especially useful,
not having to wait for one to be dropped can save a lot of time and effort.
I hope it'll do for now, else google

You surely mean Copyright infringement and not breaking the EULA?
After all the original Eye of the Beholder (I and II) did not in fact have an EULA. Well, my original copies sure don't have an EULA included anyway.
Apologies for straying of the topic a tad.

Get on topic guys! If you want to discuss something else that EOB AGA, make a new thread.
It simply rules! The automap function is very much needed, totally rules!
Its one of my all time favourite games, so this do really rock!
Very recomended to old and new rpg fans.

This is a good example, that eob 3 and lands of lore could be happened on amiga too.
Anyway with a 68040 and aga the scrolling of the intro is still the worst i ever see. (i mean Technical) At that time it was a true example how pc can goes low by scrolling anything. :-D
-
Wow, i own both of these games, where is the link for the upgrade?!>!
I love EOB! I still play it!
-
eob3 was developed by an entirelly different team, so it is way too hard for amiga conversion! Lands Of Lore , is more similar to EOB1/2 , but still needs lotsa work.
I have originals of the games in 3"1/2 pc disks, and the Trilogy that is a box with the 3 together...
eob3 is the worsts because of it's SLOW engine... we where promised a 32bit engine upgrade back then ,( the patch was finished but never released because of SSI troubles back then nad it's sale to Atari I think) but the author will not release it , not even now because the fears copyright laws! and it is only a patch for the original... :-(
a great game that will never be enjoyed as it could be...
-
In EOB II AGA, the main bug, that is you cannot generate a party. But you can in EOB I AGA, and can transfer to eob2 AGA.
-
on the archive of EOB2 , there is also inside a WHDLOAD slave. the whd version works perfect!
