I won this so called rare Amiga 2000 keyboard (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280086648651&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=018) on ebay, just got it in today and cleaned it up and got it working!! A few keys didn't work at first but a few hard key presses and they all seem to be ok!!
Eat your heart out Doomy!!!! ;)

Huh ? I doubt there ever was an A500 with sqaure F-keys.
-
hmm now that i think about it i guess not, havent had my a500 out in quite some time lol.
-
What's rare about it TJ ? I think I have a similar one... Tell me what to check for
-
Watch out TJ! Now he may try to get you to "donate" it to him and curse you out if you don't! :P
Great find! But I still got ya beat.. until you get an Amiga Walker I have the most rare! ;)

Well this is the very first release Amiga 2000 keyboard. Notice the function keys, they are square and bunched up, next look at the caps light key. It is also considerably lighter than the rest of the keyboards! And the red AMIGA keys!
But overall it's nothing special. Actually feels a little cheap. Also the Amiga 2000 logo is different.
And here is Doomy's take (http://www.retrogeekcomputers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=35&sid=1bcc2d60052f648b55c169ee56f8e492) on it of course!

I've been using one of those (characteristic Caps Lock) on my A500 for years. It was shipped with the early Braunschweig A2000(A) models.
It used to crash on some games, so I made both keyboards switchable. ;-)

Well,
I don't know about Doomy (hmmmm...) and if what he says is true, but if we assume it is, then we can also assume I'm about $2400 richer! (I think I read on his link that each costs $1200, or was it $120?). I've got two of these sitting in my place. Not so rare I guess?
Cheers

Take what he says with a grain of salt. He fancies himself as an expert but I don't see anything extraordinary about his knowledge/skills.
-
Well he says mint in box. I do know these are rarer since they were fased out quickly with the newer heavier type, so they are rare. Some guy was trying to sell one on ebay for a rediculous price recently, did you guys see it? lol
-
He's a very skilled and experienced - amateur. *SCNR*
-
Was it Paul from the 64 and more store? He was selling one for 150 based on Doomy's banter about it being worth 1200.
-
Sadly, some people buy old Amiga stuff just to sell on Ebay. Then they do a quick search on the web to ascertain the part's value, find Doomy's site, and believe his inflated value claims. Then they try to sell it for this price on Ebay (and some buyers believe it). The Ebay auction for the early A2000 keyboard last month(?) even linked to Doomy's site as "proof" of the $1200 value.
He seems to think that if he repeats his beliefs about a certain piece of hardware (A2000 being the flagship model / military spec), or a price ($1200 keyboard), enough times it will eventually become fact. In some ways it has, because of other sellers using his advice as a pricing guide.
Have you seen the prices he assigns his joystick collection? I would say they are inflated.
-
Heh,
it's been historically proven that you can make it true by saying it plenty of times... Anyways, yeah, Doomy on prices...
-
that each costs $1200
Anybody has $1000 left. I have two of these "rare" keyboards and I would sell one (ok it not mint therefor the discount of $200, but its rare and I would bundle it with a A2000 of the same age :-D)

awsome photos! 8-)

@Markus_Bieler:
LOL  I was thinking just the same :) Heck, one of mine has some dumb stickers (to help illiterate Amigans), so I guess I'll drop the price another $100 :-D
-
Offer Doomy the keyboard for $600. If he REALLY belives the crap he posts, then he can double his money! A litre of Petrol can be worth a $1000 if you have none and need to be somewhere badly! I don't think we will find any life support machines or nuclear submarines needing a MK1 A2000 keyboard to function.

@a1200:
I'm tempted too :-) I could use the cash! Only... I've read too much about him and what a tool he is, firstly I don't want to deal with someone like that and secondly I doubt I'd get anything. In fact, he might even ask me to "donate" it to him :-D

Right, but call his bluff! See if he is willing to pay what he says it's worth. Chances are he will not. Would be curious to see his response!
"Oh that one has the 5mm key height instead of 6mm. It's not rare.. go ahead and donate it to me..."
