:boohoo: :oops:
Bay area deal! cheap amiga!! (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/gms/291303256.html) Why do these things show up when I don't have the cash? :lol:
-
nic-nacs! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :banana:
-
Bleh, I live day to day without more the 5 cents in my pocket. Imagine living being anywhere from $200-$400 a month deficit. That would be the least of my problems not being able to get another toy.
-
What a horrible time to be broke!
Lent? ;-)
-
@Amiduffer:
it's gone mate, and this time it wasn't me!
-
@Amiduffer
There is never a good time to be broke!
I hope your situation changes for the better, never like to see a fellow Amigan struggle financially :-(
-
I know what you mean. Most of the time people here in SoCal GIVE their Amiga stuff away, i've been lucky so far. I got my A1200 for $20. I just picked up a 1084S and a Astra 1200S scanner for free. Not bad huh? Keep looking in craigslist everyday and you'll probably, eventually find the good stuff!
-
@ pan1k:
Here in NorCal they do too, only the bay area is so spread out it's a huge trip usually to make it there, unless you're lucky and the owner can hold on to it..
I can't say though, I've been lucky as well and gotten some pretty cheap items, including some 'steals'. Love Cali!
As for Amiduffer, I fully understand, because there are times when I can't spend the money (not totally broke, but you know, other things like bills have priority), and I see this great Amiga piece or what not, and I'm asking the same "why, why, why oh why did it have to go on sale 2 weeks "early" ??? :-) )
-
@da9000
They do it here in Maryland too! You wouldn't believe what pops up on Graigslist, and/or Freecycle.
This very likely holds true across the country......
-
Heh, damn coasts :-)
I could never grok freecycle.. maybe I should give it another try (and get a garage first!)
-
It was for $20? thats a deal!! Agreed, keep looking I was skeptical until I landed a NTSC 1200 for $20!!
-
@TJLaZer:
the A600? It was for $10 !!
-
$10, he he. :-)
-
Let's not forget the powertower that I got for $350. Yeah, it was a bit much up front, I ate soup for 3 weeks but heres what it had:
Elbox Powertower
Elbox Zorro Busboard
Blizzard PPC w/ Bvision
A2091 SCI Card
Repulse Sound Card
Surf Squirrel
HD Floppy Drive
SCSI CD-R
Oh and like 2 copies of 3.9 and 3.5 What a deal.. people just don't know what it is worth!
-
I'd be happy just paying standard going prices for something if it saved me shipping costs by being local. :roll:
What am I talking about? That already happened 3 times in the last month! :-D
Anyone in WA state considering selling a 1200? Tj? ;-)

WOA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where did you get that monster?????
-
OK, Amiduffer, I think maybe this guy who got the A600 is selling it for 10x profit. Correct me if I'm wrong :-)
Check it:

Ha ha! I just saw it myself and thought the same thing. Its an odd coincidence, no? :roll: Especially since he's only about 20 minutes away from Alameda. I don't blame him for wanting to speculate with collector computers, though. I hope he doesn't mistreat it if nobody takes up his "offer".
-
Maybe I should message and ask him if he's planning on "trashing it" :-)
-
Well, I just had a ton of bricks land square on my noggin. Some awfull realities you don't really think about came to light in my recent financial mis-fortunes.
Do you think about who handles your money, at whatever financial institution you have your money stashed at?
I bank at Bank of the West out here, and the level of competence was appalingly low. My employer bounced a check, and my account went into red. After awhile, I got a letter saying I had to get it taken care of, or the account would be closed. I tried to get an exact date of when that would happen, and maybe get the date extended and to my surprise, when I visited 5 different branches, and also called into the branch I had signed up at, I got 6 different stories! :-o The last one I had went to had said that I had until the 19th to get it taken care of, and went into a bank with some checks on the 19th, only to be informed that the bank had closed the account back on the 15th! :getmad: So, now I have to get this mess straightened out somehow.
Its sad to think that this is probably the case in a lot of other banks. Maybe I'll try a credit union or something a little more privately owned instead of the big companies that don't give a damn about spending the $$ in order to have trained people. Problem is, how do you know?
-
Find a credit union! I joined Wescom, and wow what a difference, They are friggin open on sundays!!! No papers to fill out when you want to withdraw, its great and they make me feel like its my money. I had tons of problems with WAMU!
-
I don't know so much about banks, but Fremont Bank, while I never had a problem with them, has really {bleep}ty web account access.
As for credit unions, don't you have to be a member of the specific union, or no?
But what pan1k mentions is certainly true: most banks don't treat your money as if it's your money, fscking a**holes. Our money is making money for THEM, and yet they treat us like trash. We have to feel LUCKY that we don't pay "monthly service" charges. WHAT FOR? Having my money invested so it makes money for the bank? That actually COSTS? Jeeez, I didn't know! Banks are a goddamn monopoly, and nobody thinks it so. I guess we have to find out how to open our own banks, eh?
Good luck to ya Amiduffer
