Title: I'll be getting my new miggy soon! A couple of questions.....
Post by: reddwarfer on March 06, 2007, 08:19:58 PM
In the next two or three weeks I shall be the proud owner of Jabaruk1's A1200 Powertower :
FS thread (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=27789)

As far as I know the Apollo 1240's 040 CPU can be upgraded to an 060. If the process is moderatly okayish to do I'll most probably be something for the Easter to do. I'm fairly competant with soldering if needs be.
Anyone done this before?
Can it be done :lol: ?

Cheers in advanced!

Things you need:

1260 ROM CHIP
1260 Voltage Converter
A good quality 68060 chip (MMU/FPU)
Extremely good soldering skills

You will need to do the following soldering:

Solder the volatge converter
De-solder the ROM chip
De-solder the 060 chip
Solder the new ROM chip
SOlder the new 060 chip

A guy on this forum sells the ROM and Volt converters.

060 chip = 50-60 GBP
ROM = 7 GBP?
Voltage = 8 GBP?
