Title: Downloading from Telnet BBS's?
Post by: TjLaZer on March 05, 2007, 05:51:14 AM
Does anyone know of to download files from a telnet BBS?  I am in a retro BBS and am trying to download a file, of course it is emulating an actual BBS session and asks for X, Y or Z modem.  But how do I get it to actually download it to my machine?  I tried it on PC, Mac and Amiga and no go.  I am missing some step /me thinks!!

I believe you need a Telnet client which supports file transfers.  Hyperterminal on Windows does this.  Most Telnet clients with file transfer enabled will automatically pop the "Save as.." requester if you transfer with Z modem protocol.

DCTelnet (aminet) and AmTelnet are good telnet programs for BBS use for Amiga. You can use Z-modem protocol with them.

Almost on topic: Are there any ok *free* ssh clients (like Putty) for os 3.1?

I'm missing an SSH2 client with working VT100 as well.

The biggest reason for not spending more time with the Amiga. :-(
