greetz Amazing

That's normal Amiga behaviour!
You can turn it off with a No Click utility (search Aminet (www.aminet.net) with No Click). I use BlizKick with the NoClick module.
-
i gues the blizzkick can be found on aminet?
but the module? is that a piece of hardware?
and is it available for a a1200?
-
BlizzKick is just a program to speed up your Amiga, if you have a Blizzard accelerator, Its written by Piru, here on Amiga.org and you can find it either on his site, or Aminet.
If you want to stop the floppy drive clicking, there are numerous programs available on Aminet that you can download that will work for all models of Amiga.
-
BlizKick comes with the NoClick module included. It's not a hardware product but an optional software piece that can be used with the Blizkick program.
As I said you don't need Blizkick if you only want to stop the drive clicking. BlizKick's main purpose is softkicking a ROM file; it can be quite complex to use the program if you want to make the most out of it.

Here is Piru's website with all his cool programs.
website link (http://piru.dyndns.org/~p/sw/)
Download and enjoy! Or, if you just want to silence the clicking, heres a bunch of programs for you to try.

simple things works the best
So, just format a disk everytime you boot-up and you'll be golden. Talk about a simple solution. :-P
-
no just format it 1x and its ok
i just booted a few times now and the ticking is gone
thats simple :-)
-
Im using blank formatted disks in drives of my A2000 too, as those "noclick" utils olny makes sounds louder

@ amazing and Chain
Out of your own curiosity why don't you just give 'clicknot' a try?
Click on Amiduffer's Aminet link above and download the top item called clicknot373.lha (its only 3K in file size)
Just put it into your Workbench:WBStartup drawer and you won't hear any clicking at all after your Amiga has fully booted :-)
A4000 Mad
-
ok i will give it a try :P
-
I remember using one of them for years. Can't remmember which one, but once it was run the floppy would click really loud once or twice then after that it'd be pin-droppingly quiet.
-
Ive tried four utilities i think, and its still the same, only louser clicking. It must be some problem with old floppy drives in A2000 (they are manufactured by Panasonic iirc)

If setting the noclick flag makes your drive louder, don't use it. It might cause your drive to go off alignment.
The Amiga clicks the drives, because otherwise the diskchange line's state is unknown. You must step the drive somewhere, then the DC status is reset and you can read it.
Normally the Amiga steps in the first time and then out and repeat.
After setting the noclick flag (present in the trackdisk.device of ks 3.0 and better), the drive starts stepping out only. The drive should refuse to step further than track 0, thus giving you silence.
Some drives don't implement this and will happily hammer the heads against the end stopper.. This will cause the track 0 position to drift and you'll end up with an unreliable drive that writes broken disks.
-
I see what your saying Jope, but if the drive head movement is required for the DiskChange signal, now does the line reset?
-
Head movement is not required, but a step! :-)
It doesn't matter whether it actually moves anything, but the step signal needs to be pulsed.
