Title: Can this be used on with the Amiga?
Post by: Amiduffer on March 02, 2007, 04:58:14 AM
They are advertising naked PCB board MP3 players here

futurlec (http://www.futurlec.com.au/Mini_MP3.jsp)

and, for those techy types, can this be used like a MASplayer, or some combination with the Amiga?

If you first add an SPI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_Peripheral_Interface_Bus) bus to your Amiga - of course.

Can't that be done using the parallel port ?

@HellCoder

Yes, but you would need to write a Driver or a Transfer Program to transfer the MP3s trough the SPI Bus.
The Protocol itself is simple.

That would be a nice project to work on!

Even better, Make a 2 port SPI adapter for the clockport, with one bus wired up to a Sandisk MMC card (Uses SPI interface apparently) slot outside the amiga, then you have somewhere to keep all your MP3s on!   :idea:

The hackers love writing drivers for things. Don't they.

I had more of a mind about how to install it within my A3000, perhaps connected to an I/O board like a Multiface (if I can snag it in time). The less clutter on my desk, the better.  :-)
