Title: Emplant battery?
Post by: frl9lk on March 01, 2007, 10:35:38 PM
I've been trying to get an Emplant going in a 4000. Its self-diagnostic checks out, the rom image is good... but I have no dox to troubleshoot. One thing I wonder about: should there be some sort of battery on the board? There's clearly a mount for one.

Hi.

Well, I have just get a emplant card myself.
And try to get it work.

1. As I know you should only use the rom mounted on emplant to take a image of the rom. Then save it on the HD.
Then you can remove the roms.

I have some links you can use:

http://maconamiga.amigaworld.net/
http://www.cucug.org/amiga/amiinfo/reviews/EmplantDeluxe.txt

I have downloadet the emplant dms file and installed it.
but when I start macpro the program just exit by itself.
Can it be that I use wrong name on the rom?.
I will try to change the name tomorrow :)

But I have installed shapeshifter too.
http://shapeshifter.cebix.net/

I have done the same config as you can read in the "mac on amiga" link.

So far I have get a boot disk and format a HD for use with mac os. It's now boot, but Still need to get mac os from apple site.

But you have one more mac emu  the "Fusion"
And as I have read, it's the fastest emu for amiga and use the emplant board.
But If you get any more speed with emplant vs. without I'm not sure. I think it only use the emplant for hardware serial interface. But I not sure.

I have no copy of fusion. don't think you can buy it anymore. Any know?

What emplant card rev. you have?
I have the 1.5 rev, with scsi. Think it is the deluxe version. but i got no manual's or disk.

well that's I know so far.
Hope you get some use for this info.
And sorry for my bad english.

I've got a Fusion in my A1200T. I'm running it with an emplant board. Battery doesnt do any good for me. I think it's for PRAM settings on the Mac. Just get your Mac ROMS, and find a copy of MacOS 7.x (8 seems to be too slow) Install fusion and you should see Emplant and then you know your board is working.
