Been a while since i used amiga about 6 months or so getting into it again here is what i got
A1200 68030 with 64mb on board
OS 3.9
2GIG HDD
CD ROM
EIDE'99 and allegro CDFS
in os3.9 my CD ROM has never worked no matter how much i install the drivers :madashell:
Want my CD ROM to work want to use CD32 games on my a1200 if i can
it works no problem in 3.1/3.5 should i go back or is there another for it to work??
-
Hmmm...if you're really stuck, couldn't ya just copy the drivers from your 3.1 installation and put them in the DEVS/DOSDRIVERS drawer of your 3.9 installation?
You could also use the installer on the OS3.9 CD to create a driver for you.
-
will try the wb3.1 thing as for the os3.9 CD rom how can i make a driver i cannot access the CD!
will let you no how i get on
-
What do you mean you cannot access the CD? Access it from your 3.1 installation which you said has a working CD driver.
-
Umm. Did you see if your CD0 in DEVS had the correct unit# and device listed?
That, and modifying the CacheCDFS options often made CD's that didn't bother to appear, show up.
-
I've heard that certain IDE splitters have problems with the ROM patches installed by the setpatch command. Maybe that's what is giving you problems getting your CD drivers to work.

If i goto storage dos drivers then dos drivers and double click CD0 the drive works anyway to get this to mount on startup could I just drag and drop the icon into startup folder??

No, look in your DEVS drawer. CD0 should be there, if not, take it from the Storage drawer and put it in DEVS.
Then, click once on the CD0 icon, and choose info from the icon menu, and it'll tell you what unit# and device is being used. Modify it to match what you need.

ive put it in my DEV/DOS DRIVERS folder ive rebooted 3 times and each time it has appeared so it seems to be working now
thanks for your help
my next question is
Can i get CD32 emulation for the a1200??
-
Great! Glad to be of help.
I have only one CD32 game, X-Com, and if I run it from WB, the game will start, but hangs when a mission starts. I have to use the SquirrelSCSI bootdisk for it to work properly. Doing so, will disable the accelerator though. Other than that, I don't have a clue. See if there's something on Aminet.

Well I use a great prog called CD-Boot. It puts an additional startup-sequence in your S drawer. At boot up your Amiga first looks to see if there is a bootable CD in your drive. If so, it gives you the choice of booting into the CD or into Workbench. It makes an A4000 or A1200 act just like a CD32 8-)
It checks your CD drive at a very early stage of booting up as CD32 games usually require the full 2MB of chip ram of course :-)

I've had it for years and cannot tell you if it is available FREE now. But you can always contact the author Thomas Kessler by E-mail to find out more details. His E-mail address is/was kessler@fim.uni-erlangen.de :-)
