Only took about 16 years or so.
Bought an Amiga 500. Wanted to get an a1200 but missed out on an ebay auction. Will keep my eyes open for another.
Anyway. Looking forward to reading the forums and learning a lot.
Cheers

Welcome to amiga.org, enjoy your new machine!

Welcome to the group.
I never had an Amiga 500, started off with an A500+ then A600 then on to the 1200.
The 500 you will have a lot of fun with, give the Amiga Basic a go that you get with the Extras disk.
But wait until you get a 1200, even better.
Ohhhhhh dear you have got me going now, do I get a 500 or what?
Mike.

Although this is my first amiga I have had very fond memories of playing games with a mate on his amiga 500 back in my younger years. We sure spent some hours on the thing mostly playing two player lengthy games like ports of call etc. I also had very extensive play time on my commodore 64.
The A1200 is what I really want. This is just to tide me over. Of course I wont be selling this one when I get the 1200. Keep it for nostalgia purposes.
Thanks for the welcomes guys. Glad to be here.

I wasn't really around when the Amiga was hot, so I jumped onto the wagon pretty late. Welcome to the club :)
My friends dad used to have a 1200 though, and I was always amazed by the graphics and sound effects of Walker or the smooth gameplay of Fire & Ice. It was way better than the 486 PC my dad gave me, though I realize now that the 486 was like three times faster. Sure, I could play doom with it, but the amiga games were more colourful and interesting to a kid, I guess.

Welcome, knight76! Good time to buy one actually. I am into Amigas since 1987 (my first was also an A500), yet it took me all those years to actually understand its great concepts & genuineness.

Congratulations & Welcome! Took me 20 or so years. Of course, if I had it then, I wouldn't have the pleasure and anticipation of experiencing it now. It's for sure that I wouldn't be going 'retro' for 20 year old PC's!
Beware though; you can't stop now!
