Title: A600 + modern flash ram card = ?
Post by: peroxidechicken on November 19, 2002, 06:51:31 AM
I've just found out that I can get a brand new type 1 256mb flash card for less than a kidney, so what's the deal with those and amigas?  Can some of it still be used as fast ram?  And then set a switch and use it as a storage device?

Anyone been there already?

You could put it in, but I doubt that the miggy will detect more than 4 MB...

There's a device in Aminet that allows the use of flashcards with more than 4MBytes, but I don't know how well will it work...
chek out: the readme (http://www.aminet.net/disk/misc/cfd.readme) and the file (http://www.aminet.net/disk/misc/cfd.lha).
Good luck!

Note that the PCMCIA port on Amigas is 16 bit, non DMA, and therefore sloooooooooooooooooow. It'll probably be slower than your chip ram :(
