do mediator compatible cards have much value as opposed to what a pc user might think? you know "bin it!" i was inspired to look at the mediator thread and i have a ct4810 soundcard.
and 2 video cards that can be used with 3rd party drivers. the chips say: 86c765 and the other says 86c775. the first is only 1mb but doesn't have the slots filled... i do have spares. the 2nd is 2mb.
i would list on ebay as usefull to amiga users. but do they have any worth now? and what kind of price. thanks. (i don't have a mediator.)

The Videocards are completely worthless. No one would use anything less then a VooDoo3 in his Mediator. about the soundcard, well I guess there are plenty available at a low price, so no luck there too, sorry.
-
just saw the soundcard on amigakit.com for 21 euros... wonder what that is.

I think below sb128, there is no valueable sound card. In vga, i agree, only voodoo has some worth, but because for its drivers. For example i have an ati 9250 vga, pci version card, but i think there is no driver for it.

I disagree with the fact that video cards other than Voodoo 3 are worthless... If one's on a tight budget, an S3 card is always better than AGA, plus it's always good to have a backup PCI video card seeing that they are not exactly easy to find...
It is also becoming difficult finding compatible PCI sound blasters too :-(

i thought i read that those s3 cards were the best supported in drivers despite their lack of power...
-
Well the idea is, that someone that has just spend hundreds or EUR or $ on a Mediator won`t be trying to save some money on the videocard making the whole thing pointless after all (he could have just choosen a zorro card and save a lot of money)
Personally I havent heard of anyone using such cards apart from a quick funtesting.

I boutht seconhadded mediator ling time ago, ant one S3 card was for free with it. Really slow card. Ive quickly replaced it with voodoo3 3000.
But sb128 is another story, ive bought three cards and they had unsupported chip. Fourth card worked, woohoo 16bit ahi :-)

That's why the Terratec 512i is a safe bet ;-)
I wonder if anyone in here uses the Soundblaster 4.1 digital

Yeah , terratec has got better sound, but hard to find. Years ago (about 5) we sell many, but now, you can't find any.

Yeah..they are quite rare now
But they seem to have plenty in Germany...just bought 3 of them from a seller on Ebay.de

i would have bought a mediator. but i got one of those incompatible towers for christmas ages ago, and it was from eyetech... i forget what it was called but it has never been listed as working with it... or any other substantial amiga hardware. i'm now waiting for the dragon. and have set aside an old pc for aros.

what about a scsi scanner? i got one with my old mac. it's of no use to me now. should i bin it? somewhere it has stuff like transparency attachments... yadda yadda. but it's heavy! i think it was 30 bit. it looks old too. don't remember who made it. mmm...
